Scar to Story, Project 01 🖤

The first story of this initiative, and a very special one to share.

For her piece, we created a cyberpunk snake, a style she loves, symbolizing transformation, change, and shedding an old chapter. The design also covered an existing tattoo within the area.

Thank you Jade for trusting me with your story and allowing me to share your words.

Scar to Story was created to raise awareness, give new meaning to scars that carry difficult chapters, and remind someone out there that their story can keep changing.

الصحة النفسية جزء أساسي من صحتنا، والاهتمام فيها بيبلّش بالوعي.
اليوم العالمي للصحة النفسية بيذكّرنا بأهمية الوقوف إلى جانب الطاقم التمريضي، وكل شخص عم يمرق بظروف وضغوطات ممكن تأثّر على صحته النفسية.
لأن الاهتمام ببعض، التفهّم، والدعم… ممكن يعملوا فرق كبير!

Mental health is an essential part of our overall well-being, and awareness helps create a culture of greater understanding and care.
World Mental Health Day reminds us to support nursing staff and everyone navigating pressures and challenges that can affect their mental health.

CARE. CHOICE. CONTROL.
Rethinking Coercion in Mental Health in Lebanon

What does coercion look like in mental health care? How did we get here, and what needs to change?

Join Justice for Mental Health (JMH) for an open, interactive community discussion exploring coercion in psychiatric care, mental health rights, and lived experiences in Lebanon.

Together, we’ll explore the past, present, and possibilities for change through:

🔸 A conversation with Dr. Joelle Abi Rached tracing the history of psychiatric care and coercive practices.

🔸 An interactive session with the JMH team, exploring the different forms coercion can take in mental health care, alongside information on our latest project.

🔸 A discussion with the @nmhplebanon National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) on current efforts to address coercion in Lebanon.

If you’re someone with lived experience, this conversation is for you.

We also want to make this a space where everyone feels comfortable participating. A dedicated emotional support space with a mental health professional and a quiet, low-stimulation area will be available throughout the event. Participation is always voluntary, and no one will be expected to share personal experiences.

بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للصحة النفسية، تشرّف مركز خط الحياة الوطني 1564 باستقبال اللبنانية الأولى السيدة نعمت عون، حيث كان في استقبالها وزير الصحة العامة الدكتور ركان ناصر الدين وفريق خط الحياة الذي يعمل بتعاون مشترك بين البرنامج الوطني للصحة النفسية وجمعية إمبرايس.

وشكّلت الزيارة فرصة للتعريف بخدمات الخط الوطني الساخن للدعم النفسي والوقاية من الانتحار (1564)، إلى جانب العيادة النفسية المتنقلة، وتسليط الضوء على أهمية تسهيل الوصول إلى خدمات الصحة النفسية لجميع الأفراد في لبنان.

كما سلّطت الزيارة الضوء على الدور الأساسي الذي يؤديه الشباب المتطوّعون على الخط الوطني 1564، وعلى أهمية التطوّع والمواطنة الفاعلة في دعم الصحة النفسية وخدمة المجتمع.

بعجقة الحياة، وبين الشغل ,المسؤوليات والضغوطات اليومية، أوقات منكمّل نهارنا من دون ما ننتبه لشو عم يصير جوّاتنا،
ومن دون ما نسأل حالنا أبسط سؤال كيفنا عنجد؟
مش كل الضغوطات فينا نتجنّبها، ومش كل يوم بيكون سهل.
بس يمكن فينا ناخد لحظة ننتبه فيها لشو عم نحسّ، ونعطي حالنا المساحة اللي منحتاجها قبل ما يصير الحمل أتقل.
ما تنطروا لحتى تحسّوا إنكن تعبتوا كتير لتنتبهوا لحالكن.
باليوم العالمي للصحة النفسية، تذكّروا دايمًا:
الدعم موجود
،وطلب المساعدة خطوة مهمّة للاهتمام بصحتكن النفسية.

Between busy schedules, work, responsibilities, and everyday pressures, we sometimes get so caught up in our routines that we forget to pause and ask ourselves a simple question:
How are we really feeling?
We can’t always avoid the pressures we face, and not every day will be easy. But we can take a moment to acknowledge how we feel and give ourselves the space we need before things become overwhelming.
Don’t wait until you feel exhausted to check in with yourself.
This World Mental Health Day, remember: Support is available, and reaching out for help is an important step in caring for your mental health!

Substance use disorders are mental health disorders, and responding to them requires understanding, not judgment. The more we learn, the better equipped we are to offer meaningful support and help people access the care they need.

برعاية وزارة الصحة العامة اللبنانية، يُنظم مستشفى تل شيحا – زحلة، بالتعاون مع نفسانيون، مؤتمراً علمياً بعنوان:

«الرعاية النفسية لمرضى السرطان»
رؤى متعدّدة الاختصاصات من طب الأورام، الطب النفسي، علم النفس والرعاية التلطيفية.

أربع جلسات علمية تجمع اختصاصيين في طب الأورام، الطب النفسي، علم النفس، العلاج النفسي والرعاية التلطيفية، لمناقشة الرعاية النفسية كجزء أساسي من الرعاية المتكاملة لمرضى السرطان، وليس كخدمة جانبية تُضاف إليها.

You can help save lives by joining our team of volunteer operators on the National Lifeline 1564 - The National Emotional Support and Suicide Prevention Hotline in collaboration between The National Mental Health Programme and Embrace

Conditions of application:

* Age 21 years or above
* Ability to commit to serve as volunteer helpline operator for a minimum of one year
* Ability to cover 4 to 8 hours of volunteering per week
* Ability to commit in covering shifts around the clock including shifts running between 12:00 am and 6:00 am.

You will receive intensive training, so educational background in Psychology is not mandatory.

Deadline for application: October 19, 2026.
