POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

One year ago today, we released 𝙁𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙪𝙚 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 (on lathe-cut vinyl) at the Burchfield Penney Art Center.

Looking back, what stands out most isn’t the poetry, music, and art—it’s the act of togetherness. Endless gratitude to all the collaborators who helped make this happen and to the entire community that showed up to hold space with us. Thanks for making it unforgettable. 🙏🐴🦬

We ended up creating a record over the course of a summer. Actual Books may have one copy behind the counter.

Shoutout to David Mitchell for helping us realize this beautiful object.

You may remember the “gratitude box” that we hosted earlier this year where we collected notes from Buffalonians about things they were grateful for, organized by @justbuffalolit to celebrate poet Ross Gay’s visit to Buffalo as part of the In Gratitude project. We now have copies of the publication that resulted: a beautiful catalog of “gratitudes” collected from around the city between Feb and June 2026. From simple everyday things to profound meditations on life, there are poems, sketches, confessions, insights and bits of beauty from adults and children alike. The months that these notes were collected were not easy ones to live through, either in Buffalo or across America. In these pages, the resilience, strength, and kindness of our community shines through. Edited by @noahfalck , designed by @arielabergriger , with photos by @yungpainkiller , we have a limited number of these gorgeous books available. Stop by and check one out while they last! As the seasons start to turn again, it may help you feel a bit more gratitude for where you are and what’s around you. (Shoutout to our new hero, garry the pet snale.)

What a season. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Silo City Reading Series this summer for poetry, music, art, community, and a little bit of magic inside the grain silos.

Take a look back at some of our favorite moments from Season 14 of the Silo City Reading Series.

We’re already counting down to next summer.

music by William Tyler from his July 18, 2026 performance.

Last night, we wrapped Season 14 of the Silo City Reading Series inside the Marine A grain elevator—and it was unforgettable.

Massive thanks to our artists for an incredible night:

Wonderous readings by Tarfia Faizullah & 2026 JB Poetry Fellow Siew Hii. A memorable musical performance by Olivia Block and a stunning floral installation artwork by D. Sloan.

Thanks to everyone who joined us in the silos and supported poetry, music, and art all summer long.

What a night in the silos. We are still holding onto the echoes of last night’s sold-out Silo City Reading Series. Big love to poets Mary Ruefle and Sasha Debevec-McKenney for sharing their incredible work, William Tyler for his breathtaking guitar performance, and Julia Dzwonkoski for projecting her film, “Oh My God I Love Staring at Things.” Thank you to everyone who joined us. See you in August.

What an electric night at the silos! We were honored to host Ross Gay and the incredible Aitina Fareed-Cooke and her band, as well as local poets Luke Daly, Zi Daniel, Annette Daniels Taylor, Jillian Hanesworth, and Joshua Thermidor for our latest Silo City Reading Series event. There is something truly magical about bringing these voices into such an industrial, storied space—thank you to everyone who joined us to listen, reflect, and share in the wonder. See you in July.

Lit City was alive with energy on Friday to commemorate 100 years since Robert Creeley’s birth. ✨

It was deeply moving to come together with so many friends, poets, artists, students and colleagues from past & present at UB Anderson Gallery to celebrate Robert Creeley’s life & legacy. Even in remembrance, the room felt alive — full of conversation, laughter, memory, warmth, and the shared love of poetry that continues to ripple through Buffalo.

A beautiful night and a beautiful reminder of how much literary community matters. ❤️

Maybe next week 🌞 looks like bringing a book to the park, sitting in the grass for a while, and paying closer attention to the world around you. ☀️📚

Ross Gay’s latest book, The Book of More Delights, continues his beloved series of short essays celebrating friendship, gardening, tenderness, humor, skateboarding, grief, joy, and the beautiful strangeness of everyday life.

We’re thrilled to welcome Ross Gay to Buffalo on June 27 for the opening night of the 2026 Silo City Reading Series at Silo City.
