Our beloved Verlorenvlei is under attack! A dam upstream threatens this fragile ecosystem. This river is an important breeding ground for flamingos, pelicans and a number of other birds and fish. It’s the only known habitat for the Verlorenvlei redfin (fish) and is home to many other species. It has significant conservation status!

It’s also is the wetland and vlei that our plot lives alongside. This is part of our home - and to think that a dam may be built that threatens all of this and that we potentially will not be able to experience the bird life and wildlife that we do now is heartbreaking for @sam_thegirl and I.

Take a minute to do your part in protecting the largest wetland on the West coast of South Africa. For those of you who love our West Coast and those that have followed our life on the plot and found it inspiring and a beautiful area please help us and follow the details in the short clip and sign up to prevent the destruction of this unique system. 🎥 @noahjkahn

There is always your first @noahjkahn I’ve been shooting surf photography for many years and shots like these don’t come easily. It’s a working relationship that develops over time between photographer and surfer. Grade 10 CBHS learner, @noahjkahn was spotted by photographer @grant.scholtz at Sunset. Said Grant, “One of the skippers let him get on their boat eventually, I told him he won’t catch a wave on a shoot boat and the next thing he is coming past on a wave he will remember.” Noah is the great grandson of the legendary John Whitmore @followtheoom so surfing is definitely in his blood!
