SCENE & HEARD: AMSTERDAM PT. 2 🇳🇱

Reflecting on a club celebrating its 10-year anniversary, navigating a rebrand, and continuing to connect with a younger generation in ways the rest of the scene can learn from.

Shelter is an example of a club that has stayed true to its core values while remaining realistic about the times we live in.

It’s about understanding your audience, building a relationship with the next generation, and maintaining a cultural identity that introduces younger clubbers to the heritage that came before them.

We spoke with the Shelter team about their perspective, the values they’ve held onto, and how they’ve adapted to an ever-changing clubbing landscape.

Congratulations to the Shelter team on 10 years. Here’s to what comes next 🖤

Stay tuned for part 3 coming soon 📡

Scene & Heard: Amsterdam 🇳🇱

Going underground ~ literally ~ to explore one of the most distinctive clubs Shelter 🔊

Amsterdam is known for its rich clubbing history and high production nightlife experiences, but Shelter is unique in the city: it was purpose built as a club, rather than being a space repurposed for nightlife.

But the architecture is only part of what makes Shelter special… For this story, we look beyond the room and hear from the people behind it. Their perspectives, their approach, and what they believe gives Shelter its special sauce 🔊

Thank you to the Shelter team for inviting me through their doors and allowing me to understand a more about the people and ideas behind a club I’ve been wild about for years 🩶

Stay tuned for more on this story, there’s 3 parts!

While our class is busy preparing for @turf.event and @nachtsymposium, our ADE-student team is taking a moment to look back at the amazing experience we created for @amsterdamdanceevent at @melkwegamsterdam.

A huge thank you to everyone who was part of Art in Nightlife: our guest speakers, artists, visitors, and of course everyone who helped make it possible. 💛

Not too much footage from last week, but what an ADE it was. Plenty of great shows, our own conference at Melkweg, pop-ups, and live feedback sessions for artists.

I truly enjoyed every part of it learned a lot, met new faces, and reconnected with many familiar ones.
Big thanks to everyone who was part of it! :)
