The Berliner Philharmoniker has featured its Jewish-American First Concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley in a new recording that features a Klezmer Violin Concerto written and performed by Noah. He spoke with us about connecting to klezmer music through his father, about his composing process, his observations about American and German symphony orchestras, and his new orchestral excerpt project with Henle. https://www.violinist.com/blog/laurie/202610/30889/

Joy just might be the common denominator in what I’m listening to this week.

My top pick is @davehollandjazz's "Freedom Call" — six LPs, three ensembles and 18 newly released live recordings that I’ve been returning to since July.

Also this week: @daniiltrifonov heads to South America, @noahviolin proves the world needs a klezmer concerto, Connie Converse’s songs find new life, @mambolegendsorchestra lives up to its name and "Street Scene" returns in a new recording.

Plus, I’m taking a couple of Left Turns with @elviscostello and @officialmeshell.

What will you listen to first this weekend?
