America is changing before our eyes in ways many of us never imagined. Things that should horrify us are becoming routine. The greatest danger is that we become so accustomed to others’ suffering that we stop feeling it, stop questioning it, and lose touch with our own humanity.

We are currently seeing an increase of activity with the ICE surge. Did you know Stockton ERO is responsible for ICE activity in 6 counties? Stockton ICE are active in Amador, Alpine, Calaveras, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne counties.

For those who can not be physically present at the facility, we encourage you to patrol your own neighborhood. Whether you are on the way to work, going home, or running errands, try to set aside some time to venture a little further down the block or take the long way around, scan your surroundings and look for suspicious vehicles. If you see ICE activity, please document and take a video or photos if possible. Follow the SALUTE method:

S-size, # of agents/vehicles
A-action, what are they doing
L-location
U-uniforms, what are they wearing
T-time, date
E-equipment, weapons

If you have a friend, it helps to work in pairs; one to drive and one to document/call. If they become hostile, record them, and retreat to a safe position. If alone, do not engage, but use a whistle or another noisemaker can alert others around you, then notify VALLEY WATCH NETWORK

Whether you are in a car, on public transit, on a bike, or on foot, you can take part in a patrol in your immediate area. ICE is in the Valley and could be anywhere. Any form of eyes on the ground helps keep all of us safe

ICE is most active in the early morning hours, around 5AM-9AM. They often make traffic stops that look like checkpoints. They often stalk people to their homes or wait for them to leave for work. Stay alert, especially in residential areas and on the streets

• Black Nissan Pathfinders
• Black Jeen Wagoneers
• Silver/gold Chevy Impalas
Usually, with blacked out tinted windows, and often with no plates

On October 24th, to commemorate our first anniversary, we will be marching from Victory Park to the Stockton ICE Facility. Caravaning welcome, we will also be able to shuttle anyone back afterward to ensure no one has to walk back alone. Join us after the march for a community potluck; bring a food to enjoy with the community or dry goods for the food pantry, and share some cake with our neighbors while we reflect on the past year.

On October 25th last year, dozens of people were told to report to the Stockton ERO for a routine ICE check-in. However, when they arrived, at least 20 people were detained. This sparked an entire weekend of protests outside the Stockton ICE Facility with organizations and community members from across the north Central Valley and Bay Area. Several community members decided to continue the protest into Monday as we knew support would be needed as families showed up, sparking the birth of the Community Check-In Booth. Since then we have continued to stay dedicated to helping family members who are checking in for appointments contact their loved ones and Valley Watch if they are detained, monitoring activity at the facility, and providing a space for mutual aid opportunities for community members.

❤️‍🩹 HOW MUCH LONGER MUST ONE FAMILY WAIT?

Tomorrow, October 22, Carlos Iván Mendoza Hernández is expected to appear in court after yet another postponement.

For over six months, we have watched the days turn into weeks, and the weeks into months. We have rearranged our lives around court dates, held onto hope, and tried to make sense of a process that continues to leave us with more questions than answers.

What may be another date on a court calendar is another day of someone’s life that they will never get back.

And while our family carries that pain every single day, we know we haven’t carried it alone.

To those who requested time off, traveled, changed plans, and continue finding ways to support Carlos, we see you. We are beyond grateful.

Something that has stayed with me is that even while detained, Carlos has been making little gifts for the people who attend his hearings. Despite everything he is facing, he still wants to give something back. That small gesture says more than I ever could about his heart. ❤️‍🩹🥹

Tomorrow, my sister Cindy will once again face the emotional weight of walking into that courtroom. Due to work obligations, I may not be able to stand beside her, but I hope our community will.

Because showing up isn’t just about filling a courtroom. It’s about making sure a family doesn’t have to carry its pain alone.

⚠️ A REMINDER TO EVERYONE ATTENDING: Please remain aware of your surroundings and keep an eye out for 🧊 agents, as they have been known to make appearances. Your safety matters to us. Stay alert, look out for one another, and remember your rights. Please avoid confrontations and prioritize everyone’s safety.

Behind every postponed hearing is a human being. A family. A life on hold.

And Carlos deserves to be seen as more than a case number.

After yet another postponement, Carlos Iván Mendoza Hernández is scheduled to return to court this Thursday.

It has been over SIX MONTHS since Carlos was sh*t multiple times by 🧊 agents on April 7, 2026. Six months of pain, uncertainty, separation from his loved ones, and continued detention. Six months of our family fighting for answers, accountability, and JUSTICE.

Despite the delays, despite the obstacles, and despite everything Carlos has endured, WE ARE NOT GIVING UP.
