Hello Everyone, heres an update on Oct 2nd for the 2nd time I attended the Blk Ed Summit, However for the first time I presented my very own session with “Bridging the Gap: Reclaiming Black Music & Education”. I am forever grateful for this experience and will continue forward on my path on becoming a quality educator.

Earlier this month, we had the privilege of facilitating The Revolution of Black Girlhood: Community, Care, and the Practice of Safekeeping at the BlackED Summit ’26. 🧡

There was something powerful about gathering with educators, educational leaders, policymakers, and community members committed to examining what it means to truly center Blackgirlhood, not just in our language, but in our practices, policies, and the world we create with and for Blackgirls to grow.

Together, we created space to interrogate the structures that diminish Blackgirls’ humanity, examine the conditions shaping their lives, and imagine what becomes possible when we move beyond acknowledging their brilliance to actively safeguarding their well-being, agency, joy, and genius.

Intentional spaces like these matter because structural degradation does not happen in isolation. It is reproduced through the policies we uphold, the narratives we normalize, the institutions we build, and the ways we respond to Black girls when they express themselves, exercise their agency, or dare to imagine something different.

May we continue building worlds where Blackgirls are not merely seen, but protected, celebrated, restored, and free.

EPISODE 2: WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO ABOUT DELAWARES UNDERPERFORMING SCHOOLS?

Well, At the September Public Education Funding Commission (PFEC) meeting, Delaware’s Secretary of Education presented the “Delaware’s School Performance & Support Framework” a proposed framework outlining FIVE tiers of school support, accountability, and intervention.

The goal? To provide different levels of support based on schools’ needs and performance.

📣 NOW IT’S YOUR TURN!

The framework is still a DRAFT, and the Delaware Department of Education is seeking public feedback!

Whether you’re a teacher, student, parent, caregiver, school leader, or community member, this is an opportunity to learn more, ask questions, and share your perspective.

Freedom School is coming to Delaware! ✊🏾📚

The Delaware Chapter of Community Movement Builders is excited to pilot the Malcolm X Academy as a Saturday Freedom School in 2027 — creating a space for children to learn Black history and culture, strengthen literacy and critical thinking, develop leadership skills, and engage in physical education, recreation, and wellness.

Freedom Schools have a powerful history in Black communities. We want our children to know where they come from, who they are, and the power they have to shape their communities.

“Towards a Pedagogical Deliverance: Consciousness and Creativity in the Age of the Artificial.”

Dr. Christopher Emdin spoke those words at The Mill in Wilmington, and the room went still the way a darkroom does just before the image begins to rise.

He told Black educators that deliverance does not come from shrinking. It comes from walking into every classroom, every boardroom, every space built without us in mind, carrying all of who we are. Our language. Our rhythm. Our grandmothers’ wisdom and our own unfinished dreams. The machines are learning to imitate everything. They will never learn to be us.

So pull up as your authentic Black self, and let the world do the adjusting.

That was the lesson that shall sit with many.
