I spent part of today exploring the South Rock Art Tour, and what a fantastic way to spend an afternoon supporting local artists!

I started at Nomad Gallery, where I admired the beautiful glass bead jewellery by Joanne Carter and the striking digital photo art of Leah Murray. Then Jen Evans, owner of Nomad Gallery, joined me as we headed over to Chuck and Le Boesen's studio, where I couldn't resist picking up an incredible handcrafted wood piece with a clock built into it, along with a lovely card.

Our next stop was Phil Winch's studio, where I found a beautiful wood bowl, followed by a visit to Sherry Johansson, where I purchased a charming mug featuring a bunny and one of the best handles I've ever held! We wrapped up the tour at John Lavoie's studio, surrounded by his amazing photography.

White Rock is home to so many talented artists and makers, and this tour is a wonderful opportunity to meet them, see where they create, and maybe take home a unique piece of art of your own.

🎨 The South Rock Art Tour continues today until 4:00 pm and tomorrow from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

🗺️ Pick up a tour map at Nomad Gallery or at any of the participating stops.

If you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, I highly recommend checking it out!

A different side of The 90s.

My abstracted mountains are about the landscapes of memory — places of escape, freedom and discovery that shaped my experience growing up in the 90s.

I’m not interested in depicting the mountains literally. I reduce them to colour, movement and fragmented forms, transforming a familiar landscape into a feeling. Something expansive. Colourful. Energetic. Free.

These landscape pieces are now available to discover and collect at NoMad Gallery in White Rock, BC.

It’s pure magic to see the reflections at night on the cobblestones. Take your boots or just get soaked as it’s worth it. Dance in the rain on a warm Summer night. #italianlandscapes #italianfood #italianstyle #rainynights #monterosso

Each painting in this collection tells the story of a place that invites you to slow down. From charming cafés and winding cobblestone streets to sun-drenched courtyards and quiet village corners, these Italian cityscapes and landscapes capture the warmth, beauty, and timeless spirit of Italy. My hope is that every piece transports you there—awakening memories of places you’ve loved or inspiring dreams of places still waiting to be discovered.”

Happy birthday, Amelia. 🖤

When I found this piece, I stopped.
The title. The artist’s own words:

“Her name reflects the meaning of gift of life. She presents femininity and layers of the inner being — nurturing life and to those in her life. Gifting love, gifting life, gifting the universe a presence of her strength and boldness.”

That’s her.

“Amelia” — a limited edition giclée print by Rande Cook, Kwakwaka’wakw Nation, Alert Bay BC. Numbered 34/70. One of only four originals from his 2018 Colours Series selected to become prints.

I didn’t find this art for her. It found us.
Happy 54th. Always forward, together.
