KO TE ATUA KI TE RANGI, KO TE AUPOURI KI TE WHENUA

As we head away to Aotearoa Māoris Tuakana Tournament this weekend we took a moment today to bless our new Kahu that we will adorn this weekend.

The Kuaka features strongly on our kahu and to have Uncle Heta bless our jerseys out at Great Exhibition Bay was one of those pretty perfect moments. Many of our players whakapapa to this whenua so it was fitting to be out there today.

Right moment with the right people right place!! 🪶

Natives Wāhine Rugby League take all our whānau all our people when we go to tamaki to battle this weekend.

Thank you to @teaupouri_runanga for supporting our campaign 🫱🏾‍🫲🏼

“Whiria te tāngata”

No better way to wrap up the wāhanga than hanging out and weaving pōtae with Nanny Kumeroa 🤍

It’s the full circle effect! These ākonga have learnt karakia, learnt to hoe waka, learnt to swim, learnt to dive, learnt to harvest kuta, learnt to hang and dry their kuta, and now have learnt to weave their own pōtae!

This has been an amazing end-to-end journey of reconnecting with our tūpuna through the mātauranga of this precious taonga.
Blessed and grateful beyond measure.

Nanny will be ringing in hot for all the kūta harvests, what a privilege 🌿

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa:
