The leaves are turning brown and the nights are drawing in which can only mean one thing…

No, no, no! Take your fangs out! We’re not talking Halloween book maggots, it's the Autumn edition of the Aylsham Town Read, of course!

Yes indeedy, returning for its sixth iteration, join us in The Aylsham Friendship Hall on the 25th of November where we’ll discuss Jeremy Page’s colourfully re-issued ‘New York to California’.

Published by our shop’s own award-winning imprint Propolis, this new edition which follows Page's poignant journey across the East of England, is sure to prompt an interesting discussion.
Beginning in the tiny Lincolnshire fen-village of New York, Page sets off with an eccentric companion and a dog, following a similar path to his forebears – through fenland, along coastlines, into cities and across broads. His destination: another village with an improbable stateside name – California – on the East Norfolk coast. Whilst never entirely clear what he is searching for, he hopes answers might emerge amongst the not-quite-visible-parts of the landscape and its people.

To get involved all you have to do is follow these three simple steps:

1) Get your hands on a copy of the book either from The Book Hive Aylsham at a reduced price of £9 or borrow it from the fabulous team at Aylsham library who we've teamed up with.

2) Give it a read (or a re-read for the Propolis fans among us)

3)Book your FREE ticket and join the conversation with friends, neighbours, and the author himself over a glass of wine, all in the very heart of Aylsham.

Keeping Norfolk’s Libraries Cool This Summer! 📚

Norfolk libraries were feeling the heat this summer, so we visited sites across the county to install solar control window film.

With temperatures predicted to rise year on year, the film helps reduce solar heat gain, improving comfort for library staff and visitors for summers to come.

💻 Reduced glare for more comfortable computer use
🌡️ Less solar heat to help keep interiors cooler
🪟 Graphics reapplied for a neat, professional finish

Want to beat next summer’s rush? Get ahead and prepare your building for the warmer months.

Huge thanks to @norfolklibrariesuk, and to Jo, Caroline, and all the staff at the libraries in Norfolk for helping to raise awareness.

Tablemaxxing at King's Lynn library last week. Thank you to the lovely staff @norfolklibrariesuk who were able to accommodate for our group of 16 writers by getting out extra modular tables from their supply cupboard.

Last week we wrote about being 25 and gaslighting.

It was lovely to welcome some new writers as well as many writers who have been coming to our sessions weekly for over a year.
