What a special day Sunday was premiering Remembering Water at @chipalfilmfest alongside amazing films by @fateemasaurus @yusufomar & @lameesalm

We dedicated the screening to Maisa Abudayyeh (RIP), Hossam Shabat (RIP), and to the Palestinian journalists of Gaza and all of Palestine who continue to document the truth in the face of israel and the US’ genocidal extermination.

It was so special for our film to find a home at the Chicago Palestine Film Festival where the power of the communities, resistance, and solidarity that the film represented and aspires to is practiced and amplified. Thank you to @ninadajani and the whole festival team for all your work and welcoming us into your beautiful community.

It was so special to watch this on then @filmcenter ‘s big screen that was surrounded by sites of protests & parades that we shot for Remembering Water while the four films took us deeper to where we are and also someplace else before returning to our lives, transformed.

It was so special to be embraced with the presence and support of our communities and those we don’t know…yet.

Thank you to my @uspcn family, my parents, my loving partner & Editing Consultant haydée r. souffrant, @chicagoirishforpalestine & @irishamericansforpalestine, film participants Yaa Angie B. For 3 cold hours, those who long opposed him are joined in the street by freshly-infuriated members of vastly different communities & every spectrum point between, dissolving their insularities into a singular percussive vortex.

07.10.24 • Protest as tucking a curl behind a handcuffed person’s ear, or • 3 weeks after this confrontation, Barclay’s Bank agreed to cut ties with weapons manufacturing giant Elbit. The company whose name is engraved in the sides of bullet casings, fired from American-sold guns at Palestinians in their own fields, is no longer in bed with this bank. Organizing works.

Protest is simply a more visible link in a chain of events—hundreds of invisible labour hours that don’t make Channel 5 news, complex, messy, detailed, non-flashy, muck-wading process, deep strategy from great love, made this happen.
