POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last night was incredible! Our goal was to raise $1,200 for one trash can. We ended up raising $2,620 altogether! That’s TWO new trash cans for the park! We are so pumped and can’t wait to host more events like this in the future! Thank you all!

Thank you to @northbrooklynchess @nycparks @nbkparks and @mccarrenparkhouse for helping us with this event! Very excited to continue working on more projects together.

Huge shoutout to our very own @mikeamorycomedyclinician for not just hosting but also getting some of the comics together!

And of course, huge thank you to the incredibly funny and talented comics, @lukastarnold @chika.ek @_bscotty @carlosnolla and @zakbenedek The night would not have been as successful without you guys!

The work does not stop here! We meet every Sunday in front of the Park House at 9:30am! Hope to see you guys there!

A little local support can open big doors for our kids.

We’re inviting neighborhood businesses to sponsor PS31 Community Chess Night, donate a prize, or come join the fun. It’s a lovely way to connect with PS31 families and support our young players.

And for anyone who loves a challenge—think you can beat our young champions? $5 gets you a game!

Join us for open play, games, raffles, and friendly competition—all supporting more coaching and tournament opportunities for the children.

Brooklyn over the board. ♟️

@heatherthechessboxer invited me to @northbrooklynchess to photograph the people behind the games, and I had an absolute blast.

There’s something I love about a room full of chess players: clocks ticking, hands hovering, pieces snapping into place, everyone completely absorbed in their own little battle.

I also met the winner of the Central Park Open.

Naturally, I challenged him.

Naturally, he beat me twice.

Still worth it.

This is exactly what I want @64squares.nyc to document—not only the games, but the people, places, and communities that make New York chess feel alive.
