National Girls and Women in Sports day calls for a collection of work through the years and a lengthy, vulnerable caption. But I hope someone, somewhere reads it and feels empowered.

First, to any woman who has mentored me, given me a platform, critiqued my work, held the camera, hyped me up, fixed my hair/makeup, asked for advice, played on a team with me, promoted my work, put in a good word, given me the time of day or simply just shot me a supportive smile - thank you. This industry is tough. And without the encouragement, it’d be damn near impossible to push through.

Being a woman in sports is an absolute dream. I count my blessings every day and wouldn’t have it any other way. That being said, there are times I question my path and purpose, as most people do.

The pictures/videos we see on social media are highlights. The highs. The moments we WANT to share. But there are many things that go on behind-the-scenes that we’d rather not post for everyone to see.

Comparison. Jealousy. Burn-out. Judgement. Rejection. Embarrassment. Competition. Insecurity. Desire for validation. Imposter syndrome. Failure. I battle one, if not more of these things, every single day.

These are real struggles, and they’re common, especially in this industry. But I think there is something so beautiful about persevering through them to be able to turn around and see what you’ve overcome. If you slow down and reflect, you might be surprised by what you’ve endured.

There is power in vulnerability. And I share this to remind you - whether you’re a woman in sports or anyone else - to give yourself grace, appreciate your growth and keep moving forward, one moment at a time. You are capable of much more than you think.

I’m incredibly grateful for all the experiences I’ve had, opportunities I was given and people I’ve crossed paths with over the years… But I’m not done. I’m just getting started.
