I wrote a text about democracy and inclusion and went to Italy I was in Palermo to discuss the building of inclusive and sustainable cities. Since 2024, I have been teaching Portuguese voluntarily to immigrants and refugees in São Paulo. I met people from all over the world: from politically engaged young people to academics and political representatives. I prepared several things to talk about Brazil: SDG 18, the Pact for Racial Equality, the Anti-Racist Cities Pact, among other initiatives. In the end, I was able to raise questions about the limits of democracy, hat3 speech vs. freedom of expression, and dependence on large corporations such as Met@ It was also meaningful to hear how professionals in equity and diversity offices adapted after a certain government came to power in order to continue their work. I was also able to get to know Palermo: a city shaped by Arab, Byzantine, and Norman influences. A city where cultures meet, where different peoples coexisted in the territory. Capital of Sicily, in southern Italy, a very strategic and contested location. The experience, the friendships, and the people certainly energized me for this moment Brazil is going through. Thank you, #ICCAR UNESCO and @novaproject.world! We keep fighting for democracy! Elections are only part of the process. Democracy is political participation, holding those in power accountable, resistance, struggle. Never back down!

A little late to the recap for the Bootcamp,, I’m so happy and honored that I got to meet you all and learn so much from each of you So many moments, sessions, and memories that I’ll keep with me for a long time I’m really gonna miss this chapter, but I hope our paths cross again ♡ 그리고 캠프 내내 느낀 이 건강하고도 찌릿찌릿한 불편함이 나를 어디까지 문득 궁금해졌습니다.

From spending a few days with two-time Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi, hearing stories behind two huge climate milestones from his time leading the European Commission: Europe’s first sustainability strategy and the Kyoto Protocol… to speaking on sustainable cities, climate finance and environmental justice. A fever dream 🇮🇹✨ Such a special week with @unesco @novaproject.world between Palermo and Ustica, bringing together people from all over the world to share, question, and imagine what more inclusive & sustainable cities could look like 🌎🌱 But mostly feeling incredibly lucky to share life with such an inspiring group of people. Former world leaders, a Nobel Prize winner, people dedicating their lives to interfaith dialogue, fighting racism, building better cities and communities, and so much more… Thankful for long, beautiful dinners, sunset bike rides around the island, swimming in the Med, and so many inspiring new friendships 🤍 Grazie Ustica, grazie UNESCO Nova Project, and grazie @zacbononia for bringing us all together and inviting me as a sustainability ambassador for this incredible community 🇮🇹🌊♥️ 📸 @chandragiu

🗣️Building inclusive cities means building them with #young people, not just for them. From 6–9 May 2026, we were proud to be represented at the international exchange “Transatlantic Urban Policies for Inclusion” in Reggio Calabria 🇮🇹, bringing together metropolitan cities from Italy alongside partners from #Europe, the United States, and Canada. 🌍 Organised in cooperation with UNAR, @strongcities and #ICCAR , the forum created a powerful space to exchange ideas, challenges, and good practices on inclusion, anti-discrimination, and the prevention of hate. ✨ Our Executive Director, Sintia Dina, contributed to discussions on youth empowerment through the Nova Project, which creates pathways for #young people to exchange perspectives with municipal leaders through a #Bootcamp model, enabling them to actively shape local policies and community futures. The conversations reminded us that #inclusive cities are not built through top-down approaches alone, but through #collaboration, #dialogue, and #meaningful youth participation in decision-making. Let’s continue building cities where dignity, participation, and #inclusion remain at the centre. ✨ #InclusiveCities #Inclusion #AntiDiscrimination #SocialCohesion #StrongCities #UNESCO #Dialogue #NovaProject #Europe #ReggioCalabria

. #diecimedia #palermo #università #unipa #pace

🚨 Save the Date: 10 DEC 2025! 🚨 Mark your calendars for a landmark event! We are thrilled to invite you to a special edition of the @unesco Master Class against Racism and Discrimination, featuring renowned scholar and author Dr Ibram X. Kendi (@ibramxk ) 🗓️ Date: 10 December 2025 📍 Where: UNESCO HQ, Paris (Live stream available in bio!) This Master Class is a perfect example of the strategic cooperation between ECCAR and our key institutional partner, UNESCO, promoting equality, inclusion, and respect. ✨ Why this partnership matters: UNESCO is an integral member of the ECCAR Steering Committee, the core political and decision-making body that shapes our strategic direction. This continuous presence ensures that ECCAR member cities can: 🔹Collaborate directly with UNESCO on high-impact events like this Master Class. 🔹Benefit from the visibility and expertise of a global institution in all our initiatives. 🔹Receive essential feedback on local anti-racism efforts through the Scientific Advisory Council (SAC), where UNESCO plays a key role. We are thrilled to share the official video recap of the ECCAR General Assembly 2025 in Zurich! 🎥 This was a powerful two-day gathering where #ECCAR member cities reaffirmed their firm commitment to building more equitable societies where everyone can thrive. Over the two days, we achieved significant milestones: 🤝 Shared best practices and critical experiences in anti-racism work. 🗳️ Elected a new Steering Committee to strategically guide ECCAR’s work forward. 👥 Welcomed a new ECCAR Board Member and several new member cities to the Coalition. The remarkable participation was incredible: more than 190 participants representing 86 cities from 15 countries across Europe! This powerfully demonstrated the importance of protecting human rights at the local level. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible host, Mayor Corine Mauch (@corine_mauch), to the City of Zurich (@stadtzh ), and to the entire team for their warm hospitality. We also thank the Paulus Akademie (@paulus_akademie ) for providing the perfect space for these crucial discussions. Don’t let Europe go backwards! Watch the video to relive the key moments and see the faces behind our shared mission. Together, we build #CitiesForUsAll. 🌍 🎬 ©️ @joeisavailable & @pvtrickboettger #ECCAR #GeneralAssembly2025 #Zurich #UrbanEquity #AntiRacism #CityNetwork #HumanRights #LocalAction
