📚TOP 13 BOOKS OF 2025 📚 2025 was personally an absolutely crazy year! So it’s not surprising when I am reflecting on 85 or so books I have read so far, looking at my most top ones, I am identifying 13 books. I don’t want to trim it to 10 to fit the standards. And maybe that’s the new me emerging into 2026. 13 best books it is! This year has tried me for sure, and yet I wouldn’t change my personal adventures or growth. That’s what life or a book is all about- you keep reading it, you keep going forward, and you keep growing. Life is fascinating, even when it’s heartbreaking. And these books highlight that. Fiction or non-fiction, these are the stories of humanity, connection, love, heartbreak, resilience, hope. Some of them made me cry and I love them for this. Some of them made me think, some - learn. 📚🕰️ FALL BACK FLATLAY 🕰️📚 Today we set clocks back an hour and it meant the morning was glorious with an extra time to read in bed! To celebrate this, here is my flatlay. As you see, I had to get creative with some numbers and 12 is in Russian (Twelve Chairs is a hilarious book written in 1928 in Russia. It’s as witty as ever in these days!) Time to Refresh... Everyone has seasons where our time and energy are pulled in different directions. It’s not necessarily bad—it’s just what’s happened in that season. I had thought summer would be my reading/Bookstagram season. I was so wrong… __________________________________________________________ This Summer Was: ⬇️⬇️⬇️ : SAME RHYTHM : My oldest daughter was in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) part-time at her clinic. She worked incredibly hard and graduated in August, moving into full-time school. 🎉 : NEW ADVENTURES : I had the wonderful opportunity to be a substitute forest school teacher over the summer. Guys… it was SO much fun! Basically, it’s school in the woods—getting muddy, exploring, and discovering nature. My girls loved it. I loved it.🥾 : NEW DIAGNOSES : My youngest daughter was diagnosed with ADHD. Like I did for my oldest, I dove into learning—reading, researching, and figuring out how to better understand my youngest so I can be the mom she needs. Gaining insight into her little brain has helped me guide her and build up her confidence. My husband was also diagnosed with diabetes. This meant lifestyle changes and learning how to cook healthier (but still tasty) meals for a house of picky eaters. The positive side is I've lost 12 lbs, and hubby has lost 20 lbs! 🎉 : BACK BURNER : Even though this summer was full of good and complicated changes, I put myself on the back burner. I couldn’t show up here. I was reading, but I couldn’t put two brain cells together to post until now. This picture… is from my first haircut in 18 MONTHS!! Consider it a PSA to try your local beauty school—those students are fantastic and definitely budget-friendly! : REFRESHER : Now, I’m in a season where I can do this again. I’m reading 30 minutes a day and finding that old rhythm—just in new shoes. I’m giving myself flexibility to take small steps, and hopefully, in doing this, I can help someone else find their reading pace, too. ________________________________________________ What about you? 📕BOOK REVIEW 📕 Title: The Academy Author: Elin Hildebrand & Shelby Cunningham Genre: Academia, School Drama, Contemporary Fiction ✨I absolutely welcome this re-brand of one of my favorite authors Elin Hilderbrand and the entrance of her daughter Shelby Cunningham into the literary world!✨ As many Elin’s fans, I was devastated when Elin announced her retirement from Nantucket-themed summer read writing. But then she wrote this academia book with her daughter and I am a huge fan!!! This book brings all the Elin vibes and smart writing, but moves location to the boarding school setting with the updated cast and dramas, I am sure inspired by Shelby’s experiences. As another year at the Tiffin Academy begins, we are greeted by their Principal and meet a class of sophomores, such as an influencer star Davi and a new girl Charlie. As the year progresses, we realize that many hide their secrets, such as eating disorders, past transgressions, or current romantic relationships, and I am not talking only about the students. And then a new anonymous ap ZipZap starts blasting all these secrets into the universe, creating chaos in the school. Who will survive and who will fall at the Academy??? I absolutely loved all the dramas and relationships. The novel smartly highlights the modern challenges that all high schoolers face,but it doesn’t read like a YA. I loved all the complex characters and the typical nuanced and compassionate way that Elin treats morally gray characters (aren’t we all???). And the narration by Erin Bennett was perfection as always. I can’t wait for part 2 of this drama next Fall, when our main characters are Seniors at the Tiffin Academy! 📚MY AUGUST READS 📚 I definitely loved many of my August reads! I did well with my choices! And I got to travel to Italy to uncover family secrets and to find myself. I also loved being a part of a Syrian Jewish family and wrangle my way to myself while appreciating being a part of my amazing family. I managed a cure bookstore in Boston and fell in love. I also got to pretend that I am a daughter of a rich businessman and while it was messy, I did walk away with a hot and super sweet boyfriend. I also had a share of heartbreak: living through abuse, but either discovering the power of the name or being surrounded by true friends. And finally I got divorced and raged, but then re-built myself and made my life even better. So yeah, the themes were resilience, hope, family, friends, love, and finding myself. Sounds like amazing principles to live by. 📕BOOK REVIEW 📕 💫 This will definitely be one of the best books of the year for me - original, thought-provoking, and heartbreaking and warming at the same time. 💫 TITLE : The Names AUTHOR: Florence Knapp GENRE: Literary Fiction, Family Drama This unique novel explores how different names can lead to different paths. Cora embarks on a journey to register her newborn son’s name, along with her 9 year old daughter Maia. Based on this choice: Bear (as suggested by her daughter), Julian (as dreamed up by her), or Gordon (as insisted by her severely abusive husband in his own name), the boy’s life and all their lives take different paths. In each version, we see how abuse shapes the lives of affected family members and the various scars that persist along with resilience and rebellion. It’s a story that is truly painful and sad to read at times, but each story ends with its own victory and love. Each version made me cry in a healing way. 📘 When was the last time that a book snuck up on you and made you fall in love ?📘 SISTERS OF FORTUNE by Esther Chenebar was that for me. I was so happy to get it in mail and had to prioritize it right away. This novel centers on a multi-generational family of Syrian Jews in Brooklyn, especially three sisters: Fortune, Lucy, and Nina. Navigating living in the community and according to the traditions and coming out of age and finding themselves, this novel lovingly paints three different journeys by the sisters. It’s full of heart, love, wisdom, and rebellion. Read this book if you love ❤️ Multi-generational family drama with rich characters who come to life 👵🏻 Strong women 🥟 Lots of descriptions of delicious food ✡️ Learning about diverse Jewish experiences (this is my second book reading and learning about Syrian Jews) ❤️ Coming of age/ finding yourself stories This book will definitely be the one I recommend and cherish.
