POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Throwing it back to last year’s exhibition by @kanye_tagbo ,
I’m reminded that art is so much more than what meets the eye. Sometimes, it is a language, a bridge, a voice, and a powerful tool for social change.
My team @novobeacon and I were honoured to attend, experience his works firsthand, and witness the story behind his record-breaking artwork, “Impossibility Is a Myth” which earned him a Guinness World Records title for the largest art canvas, Beyond the extraordinary scale of the work lies an even greater purpose: promoting autism awareness, acceptance, and inclusion.

We also had the pleasure of meeting &
@openartexpo Muhamed Sulaiman, President of the Society of Nigerian Artists.

What stayed with me most was the reminder that art can communicate beyond words. It can challenge perceptions, encourage understanding, and create space for conversations that society sometimes struggles to have. Through his creativity, Kanye is helping bring greater visibility to autism and reminding us of the importance of recognising the abilities, individuality, and potential of people on the spectrum..

Here’s to art that challenges perceptions, amplifies important conversations, and makes our world more inclusive. ❤️🎨

My condolences go to the Makoko community.
Last year, I participated in a community service project there as a muralist, where we worked with the community to transform the environmental conditions and improve the aesthetic of a local school.
It is deeply painful to hear that this same community has now been demolished by a Lagos State government body. My thoughts are with the families, children, and residents whose lives and histories have been disrupted.

Lagos Island brought a rich blend of heritage and contemporary expression.

The Novo Beacon collective @novobeacon responded to the theme “Cultural Heritage in a Modernising Lagos” with a mural that honours Island feeding traditions, Eyo and Gelede masquerades, and the shifting rhythms of life in Lagos.

A grounded and powerful tribute to history, memory, and change.

Lagos Island Showcase Highlights ✨

With support from Q Dance Centre @qdancecompany , the Novo Beacon collective @novobeacon brought the theme “Cultural Heritage in a Modernising Lagos” to life with depth and brilliance.

Their mural on the fence of the Freedom Park drew from the Island’s rich feeding culture, the Eyo and Gelede masquerades, and iconic heritage monuments—honouring memories of what has been lost, what remains, and what is evolving.

Through a theatrical and sonic performance in activation of their mural, they captured the everyday chaos, rhythm, and resilience of Lagos Island living.

A beautiful testament to culture, memory, and the pulse of the city.
