If you’ve ever been curious about what the healing process after lip filler actually looks like, this post is for you!

With most facial fillers, you can see the results right away, and with neuromodulators, results develop over the following week or so. You’ll generally leave your appointment looking like yourself.

HA lip filler is a little different. Because the lips are such a vascular and sensitive area, swelling for the first few days is very common. Knowing what to expect can help you feel more comfortable during the healing process.
From the first 24 hours through the two-week mark, here’s what you can generally expect as your lips heal and settle.

First 24 hours
Lips can feel tight, slightly tender and may appear uneven. Mild swelling and bruising are common.

48 hours
Swelling may be more noticeable, and bruising can become darker. Lips may still look asymmetrical or feel slightly lumpy as the swelling and bruising settle.

Days 3–7
Swelling starts to improve, lips begin to soften, and bruising gradually fades.

Around 2 weeks
You’re much closer to your final result. Bruising should have resolved and swelling should be minimal, if any. Lips will continue to soften as they settle.

Give your lips time to heal, settle and soften.

We’re back in the clinic after the long weekend, and we thought we’d ease into the week with something fun. 🎶

If each staff member at Guelph Facial Plastics were DJ for the day, here’s what they’d be adding to the Sonos playlist!

Thanksgiving may be over, but we’re still feeling grateful for the people who make our clinic and @guelphsurgicalsuites what it is.

Now the question is, whose playlist are you choosing? 🎶

Dysport for Support is officially back!

Last year, our Guelph community came together in a big way, raising $18,232 through “Beauty for Hope”, and this October, we’re doing it again.

For the entire month of October, 50% of our GFP proceeds from Dysport injections will be donated to support WRHN, in support of breast cancer care.

It’s a simple appointment with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference, and a beautiful reminder of what can happen when local clinics, practitioners and our community come together to support something bigger than ourselves.

If you’ve been thinking about booking an appointment, October is the month to do it.

Beauty for Hope is taking over Guelph + the Kitchener-Waterloo region once again this October.

Last year, our community came together in an incredible way, raising $18,232 through Beauty for Hope in support of the Waterloo Wellington Breast Centre at Waterloo Regional Health Network.

Together this October, we’re doing it again.

Breast cancer has touched the lives of so many people we love. That’s why all of these clinics are coming together throughout October, each offering a special promotion with a portion of proceeds going directly to this important cause.

2026 Participating clinics:

@guelphfacialplastics
@artmedguelph
@juicemedspa
@the_cosmetic_surgery_clinic
@wellington_skinclinic
@youare.bonita
@yournewaura
@skincancerscreenguelph
@whrnfoundation

Whether you’re booking a treatment, supporting a friend, or simply sharing this campaign with someone you love, every contribution helps.
Because when our local clinics, practitioners and community come together, we can create hope, support and meaningful change.

The first day of fall is next week. 🍂

And no, we aren’t trying to rush away the last few official weeks of summer. But as the seasons change, it’s important to have a plan in place for your skin.

We’ve all been diligent with SPF all summer, but some sun exposure is still a natural part of the season. Now is a great time to focus on refreshing, brightening, and hydrating your skin.

At the clinic, treatments like Moxi and BBL can help support skin rejuvenation, improve texture, and encourage skin turnover. A single treatment is a great way to refresh your skin, while a series of three can be an excellent option for more noticeable correction.

Pair your treatments with medical-grade skincare designed to brighten, hydrate, and support your skin, and you’ll be well on your way to a healthy fall complexion.

One last reminder: SPF is a year-round commitment.

Just because the sun isn’t as strong doesn’t mean you aren’t getting exposure. And if you’re incorporating laser treatments into your skincare plan, sun protection becomes even more important, as your skin may be more sensitive to the sun.

Dysport for Support

Your Dysport treatment can do a little more this October.

We know it might seem early but…
throughout the month of October, 50% of Dysport sales at Guelph Facial Plastics will be donated to support breast cancer care through Beauty for Hope.

So if Dysport happens to be on your treatment calendar next month:
✨ Book your appointment

✨ Come see us for your treatment

✨ Enjoy your results knowing your appointment is also helping support an important cause

One treatment. A little confidence boost. A whole lot of good.

Already had Dysport recently? No need to rush your next treatment. We recommend allowing approximately 3 months between treatments. But if October happens to align with your treatment schedule, we would love to see you.

I’m so glad you asked!

No two faces are the same, so no two treatment plans should be either.

One of the first questions I’ll ask a patient is: “How much movement do you want to keep?” Because in most cases, the goal isn’t to erase every expression.

I can always add more at a follow-up appointment, but we cannot remove it once it has been injected.

And just because your friend had “X” units doesn’t mean that’s what’s right for you.
Your facial anatomy, muscle strength, goals, and natural expressions are unique, which is why every treatment at GFP is personalized.

My philosophy is simple: refreshed, balanced, and natural.

Can You Get Neuromodulatorsin the Summer?
Short answer: Absolutely. Here’s what you need to know.

Depending on where you’re treated, Neuromodulatorscan help reduce excessive sweating and may even decrease oil production, leaving skin looking a little less shiny during the warmer months. (A perk for some of our patients!)

Enjoy your summer. ☀️

If you have questions about Neuromodulators, your best source is a qualified medical professional who can provide advice based on your goals, anatomy, and medical history.

Think you’re doing everything right when it comes to SPF? ☀️

You might be missing a few key steps.
Here are the most common sunscreen mistakes we see:

1. Not reapplying every 2 hours
One application won’t protect you all day. Reapply every 2 hours AND after swimming, sweating, or towel drying.

2. Forgetting your neck and chest
These areas are exposed to the sun every day and are often the first to show signs of aging.

3. Leaving your scalp unprotected
A wide-brim hat is one of the easiest ways to protect your face, scalp, ears, and neck from harmful UV rays.

4. Relying on the SPF in your makeup
SPF in foundation or tinted moisturizer is a great bonus, but it’s not a replacement for a dedicated sunscreen underneath.

Bonus: Don’t forget your lips and eyes!
Your future skin will thank you.

If your skincare routine once consisted of Clean & Clear face wash and a swipe of your favourite Bonnie Bell Lip Smacker… this one’s for you.

Most of us grew up without conversations about daily sunscreen, collagen loss, medical-grade skincare, or laser treatments. We simply didn’t know what we know now.

The good news? It’s never too late to start.
* The best time to start caring for your skin was years ago.
* The second-best time is today.

Whether you’re curious about a neuromodulator like Botox, filler, laser treatments, or simply want a personalized plan to help you age gracefully, it all starts with a conversation.

We all know aging is inevitable. Looking refreshed, confident, and well cared for? That’s something you can absolutely be intentional about.

It’s Acne Awareness Month, and while active breakouts often get the most attention, acne scarring can leave a lasting impact long after acne has cleared.

The good news? There are treatment options.

In this video, Alyssa shares four of the treatments we offer here at Guelph Facial Plastics to help improve the appearance of acne scars:

* Vbeam Laser
* BroadBand Light (BBL) Therapy
* CO₂ Laser Resurfacing
* Subcision

One of the most important things to understand about acne scarring is that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Different types of scars respond to different treatments, which is why a personalized assessment is key to creating an effective treatment plan.
