I gave my talk at @tedxchicago on caregiving over the weekend, and it was some of the most gratifying work I’ve ever done—unlike any performance or speech I’ve ever given.

I wanted to give a real, unvarnished perspective on what it’s like to love and care for someone who’s sick, and discuss the cold realities, and the beauty, of that life. It’s not too much different from any life where people really depend on you.

They’ll begin rolling out the talks on the @tedx_official YouTube channel in a few weeks, and I’ll post when mine is live. I look forward to sharing it. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll marvel at how good that suit looked!

A HUGE thanks to the team that put this event together- @sweetheartdustin, @kelly_martina , @joanchristopher92 and countless others. They are world class.

(And thank you to my friend @nphcomedy for providing me with some of the only pictures I have from that day)

Last week was a whirl wind: fundraiser, gala, content day, comedy show, girls night, private hosting gig, planning japan travel.

And now I need to do laundry.

My heart is so full after a few 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸. ❤️⁣
⁣
I am 𝗦𝗢 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 Ivory Jeans Aquino and her incredible performance in her 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳-𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝘂𝘁! What an absolute honor to witness her sharing her gift and living her purpose on that stage.⁣
⁣
She completely embodied her character, and watching her perform was such a privilege. And to have an 𝗢𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗿-𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 in the audience 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 too…AMAZING. ✨⁣
⁣
Friends traveled in from different states to support her, and sitting there surrounded by so much love and celebration, my heart was overflowing with gratitude.⁣
⁣
And because 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘆…the night before, I also had the pleasure of seeing my friend Natasha Pearl Hansen perform stand-up! 😂 She was fantastic and had us rolling with laughter.⁣
⁣
The entire trip was filled with these little 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. One thing lining up after another…connections, timing, experiences that you simply couldn’t have planned any better.⁣
⁣
Such a beautiful mirror of alignment. ❤️⁣
⁣
I LOVE those little “𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗳𝗳 𝘂𝗽” moments. 😂✨⁣
⁣
So grateful for all of it.⁣
⁣
𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆? ⁣
I’d love to hear!

A GUEST TALKING ABOUT LOVE

Some days remind us just how much life can hold at once.

Yesterday was 9/11, a day of profound loss, remembrance and a world forever changed.

It was also the first night of Rosh Hashanah, when families mark a new year with reflection, renewal and hope for what comes next.

And somehow, there was also joy.

Because when my dear friend @nphcomedy tells me she’s touring with @jimnorton and will be in Providence, you make the 2.5-hour drive. 😂

So my partner in crime @kmcioffi and I did exactly that. We showed up. We laughed until our faces hurt. We celebrated a friend doing what she does brilliantly.

Remembrance. Renewal. Friendship. Laughter. Joy.

Not one diminishing the other. Just a reminder of how much a single day, and a single life, can hold.

L’Shana Tova to all who celebrate. Allow space to reflect, remember and laugh. And may we never forget how precious it all is. ❤️

Last month at Esprezcal

August was a busy one. Coworking with fellow industry friends, meeting more people in the beverage world, lots and lots of meetings, getting back in the lab to fine-tune the formula, pouring Esprezcal at some really fun events, and squeezing in a boat day somewhere in between.

A few highlights:
☕️ Coworking at Caña Cafe with Vida Mida
🍸 Taste Radio Meetup at Pilot Project Brewing
👩🏼‍🔬 Another day at the lab getting the formula closer to perfect
🎤 Mintaka Comedy Show with Natasha Pearl Hansen
🚤 A much-needed boat day with some Orion 3 family

𝗦𝗼 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗶𝘁𝘆 at the first official Mintaka event. ❤️⁣
⁣
I’m incredibly grateful to 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 for choosing 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 as the nonprofit connected to the evening. It was truly an honor to be chosen and to have our mission supported.⁣
⁣
𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴…⁣
⁣
So grateful to 𝗗𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘁𝘇𝗸𝗲 for connecting Hearts for Hope with another wonderful nonprofit and discovering how we can support one another. ❤️⁣
⁣
I also loved getting to know 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻, who had us 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 carries such a powerful message. I’ll share it in the comments for anyone who wants to check it out.⁣
⁣
And somehow, of the few days I’ll be in 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸 next week, 𝘀𝗵𝗲’𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝘂𝗽 on the one night I’m free.⁣
⁣
𝗢𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝘀…😂I can’t wait to see her perform!⁣
⁣
And a special shoutout to 𝗗𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮 for setting the tone! It’s even more fun knowing that curating vibes like this once lived on his 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗲’𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁. 🎶💕⁣
⁣
Anyone who knows Benny knows his passion for 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 together and helping them 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀.⁣
⁣
I see that mission coming to life again and again, and I’m so grateful to be part of it.⁣
⁣
Thank you, Benny! ❤️🙏🏻
