Cool bars, walking on the street with beer, bear selfies, and feeding goats. North East Georgia has it all. #summer #georgia

20 yrs ago today I was diagnosed with Stage 3C endometrial cancer. Today, I am so grateful for all those who helped me survive an 8 hour surgery, 6 months of chemo (8 hours at a time) and 6 wks of daily radiation. In no particular order, they are: my friend & acupuncturist Chris @homegrownweb who taught me to surf between chemo rounds; my beautiful friend Kim @kim_cowperthwaite who flew across the country to give me a boost; my award winning gyno Dr Heather Terbell (Castle Connolly’s One of the Leading Doctors in the Nation), Gyno Oncologist Dr. Hogan, @prjaco1 of Sansum Santa Barbara, my extremely kind oncologist Dr Mukul Gupta “We’re bringing out the big guns, Nancy”, @mattpesendian_healingarts whose Qigong classes got me back on my bike, @hoddess who called daily to check on me, Susan Sallade who taught me watercolor painting and took me for walks while I recovered, (not telling me SHE had breast cancer herself; R.I.P), Dr. Henry Han, whose Chinese herbs may have saved my life; my orange tiger Homer, who laid on my chest every morning sending me healing. But the biggest thanks go to my WONDERFUL husband @dolatin who was with me every step of the way and never complained once, all the while teaching at several schools and managing a household with lost income. And, he was brave enough to learn to surf with me. (See wipeout pic) Not bad for a boy from da ‘Burgh who’d never seen the ocean til his twenties. An incredibly tough year, with not many pics to share, so I’ll end with a happy aprés surfing shot, a few years later, taken in front of our tiny Victorian house in beautiful Santa Barbara. #livestrong #chemobrain #endometrialcancer #gynocologicalcancers #sansumclinic #santabarbaracottagehospital #cancersucks #santabarbaraacupuncture #chinesemedicine #uterinecancer #cancersurvivor

Wingspan @ The Center for Birds of Prey featured an Eagle patient release, and a live painting demo by Charleston artist Hilarie Lambert, who then donated her gorgeous vulture painting to the live auction. My Owl Woods wreath was one of many raffle items up for grabs. @lambertpaintings #magpiewreaths @centerforbirdsofprey #fundraiser #wingspan #avianconservation #artforacause #hilarielambert #vultureart #owls #centerforbirdsofprey #eaglerelease
