Another #epic #viaferrata notch in my belt.

There was a little bit of magic at play to make this one happen since @nrocks_wv were sold out through November. As we were heading their direction, I checked the website one last time for any possible cancelations. Turns out, they had an opening the following day for 3pm.

When I showed up for my climb, I found out it was just me and the guide. Turns out, he'd opened a spot for a special request and never heard back. Within minutes, I'd booked the opening and filled the spot. The perfect bit of #serendipity for my last climb of the year.

I think the craziest thing I’ve ever done. Amazing time and amazing guide, Jake! He stayed cool and really only had to hype me one time when I was on top of that head wall in a bear hug position. And the best friends to get really sweaty palms with. Do it scared!

This weekend we had our final Mini Trip of the year. 10 of us piled into a giant van (she had many names but mainly Jezebel) and we drove out to Shenandoah National Park. We stopped in Ohiopyle for some white water rafting with @wildernessvoyageurs , we hiked some state parks, and then carried on all the way out to Virginia to summit Old Rag (a whole lot of fun rock scrambling on that mountain), AND we conquered the via ferrata at @nrocks_wv . We stayed in some cute (haunted?) houses along the way and the entire van was immediately best friends as we trauma bonded with our type 2 fun and over 1300 miles of driving.

Everyone accomplished some really hard stuff this weekend! Whether it was the mental challenge of facing a fear or the physical challenge of summiting a mountain, everyone did amazing and I’m so proud of this group! Everyone can do hard things but it’s up to YOU whether or not you’ll allow yourself to have fun doing it and this group certainly was all about the fun.

Thanks so much for the memories, everyone!

Would you climb a sheer rock face 280 feet above the ground with just a harness and 2 carabiners? 😳

I went with 8 other women to climb along the NROCKS Via Ferrata in West Virginia this past weekend. It’s the longest and most prominent Via Ferrata on the East Coast.

I went into it with ZERO Via Ferrata or rock climbing experience, and somehow ended up climbing exposed rock faces and crossing a 200+ foot suspension bridge about 150 feet above the ground.

Naturally, as soon as the trek was over, I wanted to do it again.

A few things to know before you go:

🧗 You’ll climb exposed rock faces up to 280 feet above the ground
🧗 No previous climbing experience is required
🧗 The route includes a 200+ foot suspension bridge about 150 feet above the ground
🧗 Expect the entire experience to take about 3.5–5 hours
🧗 All of your climbing and safety gear is provided
🧗 Minimum age is 13
