The lineup for Astronox (@astronoxevents) has some of the DJs and VJs we admire most, so we’re incredibly honored and excited to be bringing Vibralizer and opening a portal to the audio-reactive dimension. It gets weirder all 4 nights of the fest so follow to see what happens!

We’re bringing Vibralizer to Astronox music festival in Texas!

For Astronox we built “The 4th Wall”, a minutage that unfolds over the four nights of the festival. On a circular screen, a familiar-feeling domestic space sets expectations that are subverted with increasing surrealism every night. Follow to see just how weird it gets. 🐠👀✨

How do you fit a dome onto three rectangles?

Dr. Sian Proctor and I were both participants in @theportal.iceland artist residency at the Iceland Eclipse Festival. Sian piloted Inspiration4, the first all-civilian space mission, and we got to bring her show Earthlight World: An Astronaut’s Journey into the Sensory Chamber, the immersive media tent we built within the festival. The catch: the show was made for a dome, and we had a rectangular tent, three projectors, and some very unpredictable Icelandic weather ⛈️

Standard 360° unwrapping turned the Earth flat in a lot of shots (not great for a show about seeing Earth from space 😅), so I used Claude Code to build a custom tool. This allowed me to go scene by scene, making every creative call by hand and adding a new editing tool whenever a shot needed one.

Weather delays nearly cost us the side projectors, but it all came together, and screening it for a packed Sensory Chamber was a highlight of the festival.

Huge thanks to @museumofscience, the Charles Hayden Planetarium, @drsianproctor, and all the Portal participants who helped build this space and make this possible 💙

We went to Iceland Eclipse Festival hoping to catch a total solar eclipse. Instead, thanks to some Icelandic weather, we only caught a brief glimpse of the sun a half hour after totality.

It was all good though. We had the BEST and most inspirational time being on a far-flung peninsula in Iceland, building a venue-within-a-festival with other artists, scientists, and even astronauts as part of @theportal.iceland , and letting folks play with Vibralizer using flight controls and foot pedals. We slept in a tent for most of three weeks and woke up next to Snaefellsjökull (a stunningly beautiful glacier-topped volcano) during the festival. We channeled our experience into this new update to Vibralizer, v0.6 - “The Eclipse Update.”

We hope you love our new Vibe, “Peaks” - a 3D, mirrored spectrogram made to look like mountains emerging from molten earth. Wishlist or get it for macOS and Windows on Steam.

Help us get to 10 reviews! Buy it on Steam (it’s just about $5 during the sale this week!), play around in it for at least five minutes, and then leave a review! It would really help us out 🩷🩷🩷. Link in bio.

Don’t try this at home. Do we need to say that? Not sure, but it seems like we should.

One of the coolest things about doing live events has been figuring out that Nick and I have very different styles of VJing using Vibralizer. Nick (gamer that he is) is great at busking with the various controllers we’ve connected to visual modifiers for our Many-Handed VJ installations. In contrast, I prefer to listen to the music, consider the sounds, then layer effects based on where I think the music’s going next, and then I just sit back and enjoy the sonic immersion for a bit. That’s why the spectrogram is my favorite way to do visually striking, but still audio-representative visuals.
