Altitude simulation training is a practice that encompasses specific breathing patterns, breath-holds, and targeted respiratory muscle exercises to simulate the physiological stress of low-oxygen (hypoxic) and high-carbon-dioxide (hypercapnic) environments. Using these training techniques has been shown to improve respiratory muscle strength, breathing efficiency, and perceived exertion. @nuwlax @oxygenadvantage #breathe #collegelacrosse #breathwork #training #performance @coach_it_42

Today (10/15) I got to spend time with students who created opportunities to share and grow. Today I got to accept dozens of HOODIES that I will get to gift to Vermonters experiencing homelessness. Today I got to breathe with a community of the kindest student athletes. Today I walked past this river multiple times and breathed in its reflection. Today the sunshine set the stage for beautiful photos. Today I gave HOODIES for HOPE stickers with the message of gratitude Today I gifted rubber ducks with the reminder to tell the people in your life you see them and value their connection. Today I got a little more resilient. #today #photography #art #sun #reflection @nuwlax @harwood_union_high_school @oxygenadvantage

Breathwork workshop with @nuwlax focused on using our breath to improve performance, nervous system regulation and as a tool to improve overall mental health. This group of student athletes always show up focused and ready to breathe. I am grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to work with this group and look forward to our Spring session!! #cadlax #lacrosse #breathwork #studentathlete #mentalhealth @oxygenadvantage @coach_it_42 @norwichuniversity

October 10th is World Mental Health Day. Did you know Approximately 44% to 51% of college and elite student-athletes experience ongoing mental health challenges, anxiety, or depression during their careers. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue working with @nuwlax to help improve performance on and off the field while teaching actionable breathwork tools that can help decrease stress and anxiety while improving overall mental health. I’m looking forward to our 10/15 workshop with this amazing group of student athletes. #worldmentalhealthday #collegeathlete #breathwork #lacrosse #community @coach_it_42 @norwichuniversity @oxygenadvantage @nordicflow_

I silently struggled with my mental health throughout my college soccer career. September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. The Journal of Athletic Training, report that up to 25% of NCAA student-athletes may experience suicidal ideation at some point during their college career, with variations across sports and demographics. I am grateful for the opportunity to work directly with student athletes and help continue the conversations around mental health while teaching science based tools to help regulate the nervous system. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. You can call or text 988 for support. #survivor #mentalhealth #suicidepreventionmonth #studentathlete #breathwork @champlainsoccer @oxygenadvantage @nuwlax
