Blend a Healthy Future 🥤🍓 This past Sunday, the Capital District Alphas, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Beta Pi Lambda Chapter, and The George Biddle Kelley Education Foundation partnered with Charles Whitaker, owner of Juices Forever, to bring a healthy initiative to our community. Charles welcomed us into his space at 85 Central Ave., Albany, NY, and we packed it out! We engaged with 80+ families and young people about ways to better take care of ourselves. Too often, families live in food deserts, neighborhoods where fresh, affordable, nutritious food is hard to find. Events like this help bring access, education, and options closer to home. Together, we made our own smoothies and shakes and tried healthy wraps, oyster mushrooms, fresh juices, and more. Kids and parents saw that healthy choices can be fun and delicious. We also invested in the future. Families got help opening 529 college savings accounts, with the GBK Foundation making deposits into participating students’ accounts. Thank you to Charles for opening his doors and being a wonderful host. Thank you to our GBK Project Coordinator, Erica, for the planning and hard work that made this day possible. Thank you to every family who came out, and to the Brothers who showed up and gave their time to make sure this event was a success. Healthy habits and educational investment start early, and we’re proud to serve. Join the Finance Committee of the Brooklyn Alphas for a focused conversation on how families can strengthen their structures and approaches to formation, allowing us to better build, protect, and pass on wealth across generations. This is part of a series for 2026-2027 focused on building wealth in our community. We thought it apt to focus on the relational aspects that set the groundwork and stability for financial growth. Guided by our mission to platform dynamic Black leaders and business as part of our vision of strengthening Brooklyn communities, John P. McQueen, Ed.S., LCSW-R, CFLE, Founder, Center of Psychotherapy and Family Renaissance, Inc. (@center4psychotherapy) will be our keynote speaker and facilitator as we engage in this important community conversation. We look forward to being in conversation and community with you. 🎟️ RSVP with the link 🔗 in our bio as space is limited.

On October 16, 2026, we commemorate the 15th anniversary of the dedication of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. The idea began in 1983 with brothers of Iota Upsilon Lambda Chapter (@iul1906). Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. led the effort to bring that vision to life, honoring our Brother, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with a lasting place on the National Mall. The Brothers of Gamma Iota Lambda Chapter proudly celebrate this milestone and the vision, persistence, and collective effort that made it possible. As we reflect on these 15 years, we reaffirm our commitment to carrying Dr. King’s legacy forward through service, advocacy, and action. His vision calls us to keep working toward a more just world.

Recently, brothers of Tau Nu Lambda Chapter had the privilege of joining volunteers from the City of Mount Vernon, Alexandra’s Playground, New City Parks, and KABOOM! to help build a brand-new playground at Eddie Williams Park, next to the Doles Recreation Center.   The day began with a heartfelt opening address from Mayor Shawn Patterson-Howard, who spoke about the importance of investing in our children and community. Inspired by those words, volunteers came together to transform a vision into reality. From helping construct a swing set from the ground up to installing other play structures, our brothers were proud to contribute to creating a safe and welcoming space where children and families can make memories for years to come. Thank you to all who dedicated their time, energy, and service to this incredible community project.   💛🖤 #TauNuLambda #AlphaPhiAlpha #Service #CommunityImpact #MountVernonNY KaBOOM AlexandrasPlayground EddieWilliamsPark ManlyDeedsScholarshipLoveForAllMankind AlphaPhiAlpha1906
