New York’s rescues are burning out and the strays keep coming. We’re asking @nycmayor and city leaders for a full plan of concrete fixes: fair spay/neuter access, borough-wide clinic days, empty city lots for rescue space, and more. Full letter below. Please respond and meet with us. #FixNYCStrays #SpayNeuterNYC #NYCRescue @nycmayor @zohranmamdanii @nycacc @harveyforny @karolinagomeznyc @lindaleefornyc, @lynn4nyc, @shahanafrombk, @cmshirleyaldebol @carlmwilson @cmchrisbanks

Welcome new followers! Everyone meet the fabulous five. I promise to keep you updated on their journey. And pardon my glasses which are perpetually falling down my nose but cannot adjust with ringworm gloves. 😎 introducing Chicken, Pony, Bull, Ducky and Platypus. Grateful to all who help saved these lives. And the kittens keep coming... 🐈‍⬛💕🐾

I took in another kitten today... but this post isn't about that one. 💗 This is about another kitten.

Back in early June, a caretaker who helps community cats found this tiny black kitten in terrible shape and named her Salem. 🖤 She was severely underweight, lethargic, leaking diarrhea, and barely responding. 😔 The rescuer brought her to a Bideawee spay/neuter clinic for help, and luckily, I was able to bring her home with me to care for her. 🏡💕

With supportive care, dewormers, good food, and lots of love, Salem slowly started to turn the corner. ❤️ Her diarrhea finally resolved, she began gaining weight, and little by little her energy returned. 🌱✨

Fast forward just a few short weeks... 💓 She's healthy, playful, absolutely beautiful, and thriving. 🎉

In just a few more weeks, she'll be old enough to be spayed and then she'll be ready to find the loving forever home she deserves. 🏡💖

This tiny girl has been through so much in such a short life, and I'm so incredibly happy she pulled through. 🥹 Moments like these remind me why every rescue is worth it. 🐾

So much thanks to Leah, her rescuer, and the amazing Elyise @bideawee. 🙏 Truly thankful for your help with saving this little girl. 💕✨

We’re hitting 99 in NYC, but the cats gotta eat! 🔥

Summertime tips for caring for your neighborhood cats:
💧 Put out plenty of fresh water in a wide dish
🍽️ Provide wet food, ideally served fresh when the cats are there, for extra hydration
⛱️ Put food bowls and shelters in a shady location
🍭 For your friendlies, try a frozen Churu or squeezy treat for a refreshing socialization session!

If you want to support my weekly cat feeding efforts, drop a comment and I’ll DM how you can support (from indoors, even). And let me know if you want to learn more about any of these guys. 😘

Stay safe out there, everyone!

❄️ I added the left shelter so ▶️ Venus and Steffi now have twin singles.🤗💞 The box entrances face each other so the ladies can whisper to each other from their own beds.pspspsps ▶️ Boris has a whole Reich underneath the deck of a different backyard. He's a troll and doesn't allow others to share his covered campus.👹🐾

📣 As I fed them today, a furious neighbor 😤 charged toward me and shouted, "What are you DOING?! We want the cats hungry!" I said there were no rats out in this cold and he insisted, "There are! They burrow through the snow!"
He stormed off, waving away my offer to have a conversation about rats and cats. Such rewarding work.😻😻 #feralsneedlovetoo #alleycats #catshelters #fortgreenebrooklyn #catladystrong 💪

We’ve posted this many times now, but sharing again as we need to spread this message far and wide.

STRAW ONLY!!!

No towels, sheets, blankets or anything similar. Full stop.

Straw keeps them warm and dry. Everything else absorbs moisture and can freeze to them.

♥️ My heart is full of #feralcatlove for Feral Cat Day, October 16. So many feral felines have figured in my life 🐈🐈🐈‍⬛ Here are a few: Billy, Sidney and Redford, Gemma, Venus and Steffi, Boris, and Niko. #resilience #straßenkatzen #communitycats #TNRsaveslives #feralsneedlovetoo #trapneuterreturnfeedlove #catsrulemyworld #feralcatday

It is so hard to feed shy ferals Redford and Sidney. ▶️ The looong driveway to the alley is scary for them - so exposed - and they don't always hear me. Several alley residents have gotten very aggressive 👿 about not feeding the cats (because it attracts rats, they tell me), so now I put kibble and water dish OUTSIDE the gate. I give Redford and Sidney wet food on tin foil only when they're there to eat it.
They're nervous the whole time ▶️ and run when people walk by.😩
One hour after this I returned to pick up the tin foil, and a homeowner had dumped the water, taken the foil, and scattered the kibble. 🚩 I don't know what to do.🐈🐈‍⬛ #imnotabandoningthesecats #animalcruelty #CatCrisisNYC @cmshaunabreu @votersforanimalrights @nyccatrescueralliance #trapneuterreturnfeedlove #brooklynferalcats #bekindtocats #gingerandtuxedo #ifeedstrays #atlantichomeownersassociation #straßenkatzenliebe #fortgreenebrooklyn
