Optimal temp and conditions despite warnings of the worst temp in America. Partly cloudy and 50-70s 👌🏽 It was a bit humid going up Madison in the beginning though. Also, I didn’t need a puffer at all (wish I didn’t carry it 😪).
Enough water sources, so ~2L is good enough to carry throughout.
Started around 4 am and finished ~6:30 pm.
Madison incline really was the worst part and then it was mostly alpine zone and uncovered. Finished earlier than I expected, well before sunset and with daylight to spare! Glad I was challenged at times to go faster than I may have on my own.
Next time, I want to try Mt. Washington in the winter. Also, I need to try toe socks or taping my toes to reduce blisters on long hikes. I learn something new every time I hike with people! :)
7 of us from all very different backgrounds and walks of life that communicated through @nychikers and made it out of the chat for this NEU8 challenge (& personally, my second one after the Devil’s Path)!
It was such a cool experience meeting some new friends for the first time on this weekend getaway to New Hampshire. I’m feeling very inspired to get back into the hiking grind 🥾✨⛰️ and knock out some more NEU8 and 46er hikes!
