Week no. 42 of #52WeeksOfDesign ✨ Meet Avenue Interior Design 🏡 @avenue.id: Andrea DeRosa and Ashley Justman founded Avenue Interior Design in 2009 with a shared conviction: every space should tell its own authentic story. What began in Venice has grown into a multidisciplinary award-winning studio headquartered on Beverly Boulevard in Los Angeles, working across boutique hospitality, bespoke residential, commercial, and multifamily projects — and guided always by originality over predetermined style. 🌿 Their individual paths to partnership are as compelling as the work itself. Andrea, a University of Wisconsin-Madison Interior Design graduate, cut her teeth at a prestigious LA hospitality firm before co-founding Avenue. Ashley brings something even rarer to the table — a century-long family lineage in the Hollywood film industry and a career forged in storytelling at the highest level. While at sbe, she collaborated with Philippe Starck and José Andrés to launch the Beverly Hills flagship, reshaping modern hospitality in the process. Together, they built a studio whose early experiences with visionary collaborators including Matthew Rolston and MGM Resorts International established a foundation that continues to inform everything they create. 🎬 At Avenue, no two projects look alike — by design. Each one evolves naturally through the lens of the client’s narrative, the character of the architecture, and inspiration gathered from travels around the world. The result is spaces that feel genuinely original, deeply considered, and entirely their own. ✨ 👉 Want to read more? PROFILE – Y | RIVIERA COLLECTION It’s all about texture. A mix of geometric shapes, varied pile heights and contrasting yarns gives PROFILE – Y its beautiful depth and dimension. Semi-worsted wool adds texture, while dull silk and delicate silk bring subtle shifts in sheen. We love how the turquoise, soft gray and cream work together, with each section offering something a little different. A great way to introduce pattern, color and texture without overpowering a room. Working on a project? We’d love to show you more. Explore the Riviera Collection through our link in bio, or stop by our showroom at the New York Design Center, Suite 802, to see the textures and colors in person. @crosbystreetstudios @nydc #CrosbyStreetStudios #RivieraCollection #CustomRugs #TextileDesign #InteriorDesign Close-up of PROFILE – Y from the Riviera Collection by Crosby Street Studios, a luxury geometric textured rug featuring turquoise blue, soft gray and cream color blocking. Contrasting pile heights, raised geometric sections and fine linear textures create depth and dimension across the surface. Made with semi-worsted wool, dull silk and delicate silk, the rug combines matte and lustrous yarns for subtle variations in texture and sheen. A contemporary statement rug designed for luxury residential interiors, custom interior design projects and sophisticated architectural spaces.

U N B O U N D is what happens when the brief has no limits? During the Unbound: Visions launch at @jiunhoshowrooms @nydc - @margaretrussell dove deeper asking if having creative freedom is liberating or intimidating @francis_nicdao of @pembrookeandives when he was designing the Reveal Side Nesting Tables. His answer gets to the heart of the collection: complete creative freedom can be exhilarating, but it also asks a designer to become even more deliberate about what stays, what goes, and where an idea ultimately lands. Francis shares the thinking behind his contribution and the process of moving from possibility to something resolved, functional, and deeply considered. TBT - when we previewed the @kenfulk @perennialsfabrics collection @davidsutherlandshowroom and got to bring Vader and wore custom ties made from some of the fabrics…. Extra bonus: old school Polaroids we got to keep! The slightly washy, blurry quality makes us look extra good 🤣 and the fabrics really shine… Bravo, Ken!

A London townhouse, in New York. Last month, @element7flooring opened the doors to their first New York showroom at the @nydc, and we were proud to be there to celebrate. Conceived as a modern take on the London townhouse, the space is far more than a flooring showroom. At its heart are Element 7’s exceptionally crafted floors: architectural parquet and intricate inlays, presented in ways that reveal the full range of what their flooring can do, all built and finished to outlast generations. Leather flooring doubles as artwork throughout. Around it all sits a considered interior of furniture, lighting, wallcoverings, art and specialist materials, each detail chosen to show how a floor can shape an entire space. Architecture and interiors: @charltonbrown_ Specialist furniture: @anka.bespoke Lighting design and technology: @ideaworksgroup Lighting: @ctolighting We’re delighted that Numen, the entrance table we designed for the showroom with Anka, now stands proudly as you enter. Congratulations to the whole Element 7 team on an exciting new chapter. 📍 Element 7 NYC, New York Design Center, 200 Lexington Avenue, Suite 905 #Element7 #AnkaBespoke #CharltonBrown #Ideaworks #NYDC

Last month, we took The Blackberry Podcast on the road to New York for What’s New, What’s Next at the New York Design Center, and Brad Ford graciously opened the doors to his studio and showroom for our “Design Around the Table” panel. While we were there, we got to sit down with him for an episode of his own. Brad is as talented as he is generous — truly one of kind! Listen in as he talks about the importance of craft and the quiet magic behind the makers he champions. Listen now — link in bio.

Throwback to a few days in New York for WNWN and I came home feeling very inspired by this industry and the people in it. Being in rooms with some of the best in design always brings me back to why I built The Designers Agency the way I did. Our team knows this industry because they’ve lived it. They’ve worked inside incredible firms, alongside incredible designers, and they understand what it actually takes behind the scenes to bring great design to life. There’s always more to learn and more good people to learn from. Grateful to be part of it and excited for what’s ahead.

Sometimes the most chaotic thing in your business isn’t the design. It’s all the tasks and minutiae happening around it. Vendors are delayed. One tiny piece can hold up an entire order. Someone needs to follow up. Someone needs to make the decision. Someone needs to make sure the thing actually gets done. And eventually, “I’ll handle it” is no longer a solution. Billy has worked with my team for years, and more recently he and I have focused on getting more of the office management and follow-through off his plate. That meant hiring the right person in-house, putting a clearer process around the work, and continuing to use our team to help manage projects and train his new team member. That’s really the goal. To help designers build businesses where they aren’t the only person responsible for solving every problem, while still having a trusted partner they can lean on when they need support. Also, for the record, he does implement. And he always looks good doing it!
