Just wrapped 4 days outside with The Universal Group.

Blue skies the whole way through (almost, you know it’s still Vancouver weather, right?), the right people in front of the camera, and every shot we hoped for.

A little recap from our third year hosting sailing photo tours around the herring spawn on Hornby Island!   These trips offer incredible opportunities for photographers and storytellers to capture both the chaos and the beauty of this vital ecosystem in action. Experiencing it firsthand is a great display and reminder of just how essential these tiny fish are to the massive food web and environment they sustain.

Over the 10 days, we encountered 35+ orcas, thousands of seabirds, at least 1,000 sea lions and much more. Our days were spent sailing, hiking, photographing and lounging at @eureka_on_hornby eating some delicious home cooked meals.  
So grateful for the two incredible groups of women who made these trips what they were! One for the books!

No photo or video can do justice to the energy of the ocean felt during the herring spawn. Each spring, millions of Pacific herring return to the shores of BC, setting off one of the Pacific NW ocean’s most important and visually stunning phenomena.
For those unaware, the turquoise blue colour in the water is fish sperm (beautiful but kind of disgusting), fertilizing the eggs that were laid along the coastline. This all attracts predators of all shapes and sizes to feast.  
This was our third year hosting sailing photo tours around this event. It’s a great opportunity for photographers and storytellers to capture both the chaos and the beauty of this vital ecosystem in action. Beyond the visuals, witnessing this all unfold firsthand is a powerful reminder of how important these tiny fish are to the massive food web they sustain.

From rainstorms and snow to bluebird days, we experienced it all out there on Honrby Island. Huge thanks to everyone who joined and made these experiences so memorable!

These trips wouldn’t be possible without our skillful captain, @johnkelseyphoto (@cedar_seas), and chef @meesh.coles, who kept us fuelled with nourishing meals! Special thanks to @rux.life & @oceanbottle for your support on these trips.

Our first herring spawn trip is done, and it sure was one for the books. With epic conditions, amazing spawn action, wildlife galore, and a great group of guests, it really couldn’t have been any better. We have another group starting this Wednesday on Hornby Island, and due to some unfortunate circumstances we have a last minute spot available! If you are at all interested and available shoot me a message, and put yourself in the middle of the action!

Our Women’s Wednesday event last week was amazing! 💜 it felt incredible to run with an incredible group of ladies with the sun shining. Bingo was played and new friends made 🫶

I just mentioned this day in my last reel and it sent me down a spiral thinking about all of the wonderful things I’ve learned and the people I was able to create with.
.
It’s so great being able to stay in touch with just about everyone on this trip in my class and to support an inspire one another.
.
This workshop was one of the most productive four days of my life. I learned so much and it was just a reminder that I need to go hard in 2025 and make it an action year.
