On 7th October, I hosted an event organised by Oakonsult, an initiative centered on giving hope to the once sidelined, despised , integral members of our society - our brothers and sisters living with disabilities. ✨

On that day, I didn't just emcee an event, I went back home with a stronger sense of responsibility to contribute my quota to making the world a safe, inclusive space for the people with disabilities. 🔥#mc #eventhosting #disability #emcee #eventhost

Change doesn’t start in Abuja. It starts in your living room. 🏠

Funke Adeloye brought the conversation about success all the way home, to the parents and families who shape it first.

I know I can't quantify my learnings from my involvement with Oakonsult for a couple of years now. The entire team's determination to create amazing possibilities for children living with disabilities in the UK and Nigeria is mind boggling.

What started as a casual inspection of a property in Ogbomosho 3 months ago has now become a first of its kind day care centre for children with disabilities and also a support structure for parent carers in the Ogbomosho community.

We call it "The bridge".

A huge thank you to all stakeholders and partners, especially his imperial majesty @sounofogbomoso , the Soun of Ogbomosho, the Oololo of Oolo , the Onifedegbo of fedegbo , high chiefs and the amazing people of Ogbomosho.

We are deeply grateful.

Some questions stay with a parent long after the conversation has ended.

As a mother, I encountered questions about development, milestones and the future. Some were asked with love. Others came from uncertainty. Yet even well-intentioned words could touch a place of worry that I was already carrying quietly.

That journey taught me something important:

Before asking about what a child cannot do,

📍See the child.
📍See their personality.
📍See their joy.
📍See the ways they communicate.
📍See the progress that may not be obvious to you.

Parent carers do not need every person to understand the entire journey. Sometimes, we simply need people to speak with kindness, listen without judgement and ask how they can help.

A compassionate question can make a family feel less alone. 💚

What do you wish people understood about the parent-carer journey?

This is me. 💚

Not because I have all the answers.

But because I know what it feels like when a family simply needs someone to understand.

Serving the disability community isn't just something I do, it's part of who I am.

❤️Every child I meet reminds me why this work matters.
🥰Every parent carer reminds me why we must keep showing up.
❤️Every story strengthens my belief that no family should walk this journey alone.

As we prepare for our September Medical Outreach, I'm reminded that real change begins with compassion, and grows when we choose to serve.

Here's to building a future where every child is seen, every family is supported, and hope is always within reach.

💚 One child. One family. One act of kindness at a time.

Sometimes this journey doesn't make sense.

The weight.
The waiting.
The worry.

But then you look into your child's eyes, and you're reminded that love isn't measured by how easy the journey is.

It's measured by how faithfully we choose to keep showing up.

And somehow...

That love makes it all worth it. 💚

Sometimes, we spend so much time trying to be strong that we forget where true strength comes from.

As parent carers, there are days when we feel exhausted before the day has even begun. Days when we wonder if we have enough left to keep going.

But Hebrews 4:16 reminds us that we were never meant to carry it all alone.

There is a place where mercy, grace, and help are waiting for us: and we are invited to come with confidence, not shame, fear, or hesitation.

As the summer holidays approach and many families prepare for the extra demands ahead, my prayer is that you remember this: God's help is not reserved for emergencies. It is available every single day.

If you need a little encouragement today, join me on the YouVersion Bible App and search for "Talking Faith for Parent Carers" by OAKonsult. Together, let's discover the strength that only God can give.

Sometimes courage is not an option. It's the only choice.

One of the comments I hear most often is,
"Funke, you are such a strong woman."

And every time, I quietly ask myself...

Am I really strong? Or did life simply leave me with no other choice?

The truth is, I think it's both.

👉There were days I didn't feel strong.
👉Days when I was tired.
👉Days when my heart was breaking while I was still expected to keep showing up.
👉Days when I smiled on the outside but was asking God difficult questions in the quiet.

People often see the courage.

They don't always see the tears that came before it.

What I've learned on this journey is that there is a kind of strength that doesn't come from personality, determination, or resilience alone.

There is a deeper strength.

🎯A strength that only God gives when your own has run out.

🎯A strength that carries you when you don't even have the energy to carry yourself.

Looking back, I know that's what has sustained me, not because I was extraordinary, but because God's grace met me in my weakest moments.

If today feels heavy... ❤️
If you're trying to hold your family together while quietly falling apart...
If you've been brave for so long that you've forgotten what it feels like not to be...

I want you to know that you don't have to carry it alone.

One of my greatest prayers is that every parent carer finds the same hope and strength that God has so faithfully given me.

That's why we've created Talking Faith for Parent Carers on the YouVersion Bible App.

These Bible Plans were written for ordinary people carrying extraordinary responsibilities, people who need hope for today, strength for tomorrow, and the reminder that God has never stopped walking beside them.

Wherever you are in your journey, I invite you to begin a plan today.

Because sometimes, the strength you need isn't found by trying harder.

It's found by drawing closer to the One who has been holding you all along. 🤍

Search for "Talking Faith for Parent Carers" by OAKonsult on the YouVersion Bible App and begin your journey today.

I am living proof that pain does not have to be the end of the story.

It can become strength.
It can become purpose.
It can become compassion.
It can become legacy.

Keep believing.
God still has a way of bringing beauty out of the places that once hurt the most. 💛
