One more direction before deciding.

For this fourth exploration, I brought the fabric up around the neck, letting the twist sit higher and the folds fall across the bodice. The same fabric, a completely different shape.

I like giving an idea room to move before choosing what to carry forward.

Which of the four versions would you keep?

Before the final dress, there was this.

The first exploration—wrapping, twisting, moving the fabric around the body and seeing where it led. A small shift changes the neckline, the balance, the whole shape.

This is the part of designing I love: when an idea starts to take form.

Would you like a slower breakdown of how I twisted the bodice?

These leggings start as a circle.

Revisiting the Circular Legging—one continuous pattern that takes on a completely different shape around the body.

That transformation is my favourite part of designing.

Would you like a closer look at how the pattern works?

One starting point. Four possibilities.

I wanted to give the idea enough room to change before deciding what the final garment should become.

So I made four.

Now comes the difficult part.

Which one would you take forward — 01, 02, 03 or 04?

Tell me below. I want to see if we choose the same one.

Design 01 — Wrap Drape Dress.

After a few different versions, this is the one I kept coming back to. A twist across the bodice, a wrapped waist, and fabric falling freely below.

Tomorrow, I’ll share the versions that brought me here.

From idea to form.

One Design, One Week — Design 01.

The Wrap Drape Dress started with a simple idea: one piece of fabric, allowing gravity and the body to determine the shape.

The process changed along the way — as it always does.

Tomorrow, the final form.

From idea to form.

Before I start making, I collect.

Images, shapes, gestures, construction details — anything that makes me stop and look twice.

For the Wrapped Drape Dress, I kept coming back to the way fabric wraps, folds and falls around the body.

I don’t want to know exactly what the garment will become yet.

That’s the part I like.

From idea to form.

One design. One week.

I’m opening up my process and sharing what happens between the first idea and the finished garment.

This week, I’m starting with the Wrapped Drape Dress.

From idea to form.

This knit dress, the creation of which coincided with Miyake’s 1989 “Cicada Pleats” pieces, features triangular structures divergent from an otherwise natural torso line. These structures provided permanence in form within a fluid and otherwise organic entity. Often compared to the padded dresses or projectile shapes of Rei Kawakubo’s collections, Miyake’s triangular protrusions were interpreted by many fashion critics as the designer’s confrontation of traditional Western body ideals. #objectswithoutmeaning #inspo
