Perfecting your side pose:

In most drug free, natural bodybuilding federations, they have four poses for mens physique: front, side, back, side. On the enhanced side, in most federations of the sport it’s just front and back.

If you compete in natural bodybuilding, use this to your advantage! For me, my side poses are a strength and using drills like this has helped me and my clients to get the angles, technique, and breathing control down so they can showcase their best physique.

You want to create the illusion of a wider upper body, showcasing chest and arm development, controlling your midsection, and finding the right angles to bring everything together.

Think small waist, wide shoulders and lats.
Belly button to spine
Controlled breathing
If your chest engages, you are twisting to much
Activating your legs improves your waist/lat twist
The thumb on the waist needs to be pushed into the lower back, which allows that delt to be “active”.

Small adjustments in foot placement, hip position, shoulder rotation, and arm placement can make a BIG difference on stage.

Physique development builds the muscle. Posing teaches you how to display it.

Master the details. Make every pose count. 🏆

Make sure to share this post with an athlete that you benefit!

If you are in prep or are thinking about doing a show, don’t wait until you are 8 weeks out to start, send me a DM and let’s get your posing right!
