A walk down memory lane as I just hit the 9 year marker of being a professional scuba diver😭

I did my divemaster training in Roatan Honduras and shortly after moved to San Diego where I started the IDC training with @oceanenterprises to become a scuba instructor!

So many students. So many certifications. So many early mornings, pool days, boat days, shore dives, gear bags, tanks, trips, countries, laughs, and some of the best memories of my life.

I don’t think I realized when I became an instructor just how much this little decision would shape my life.

Scuba has taken me around the world, introduced me to some incredible humans, given me a way to share something I genuinely love with other people, and eventually became a huge piece of what I built with @landandseaathletics

And somehow, almost 9 years later, it’s all coming full circle.

The shop where I did my instructor training and spent years teaching — Ocean Enterprises — is now officially partnering with the community I’m building through The Ocean Society. 🥹

There’s something really special about looking back at all these faces and memories and realizing none of it was random. One thing just kept leading to the next.

Almost 9 years, a whole lot of students, and thousands of dives later…

Still teaching.
Still exploring.
Still bringing people into the ocean.
Still completely obsessed with it!

And somehow it feels like we’re just getting started.

We’re making it official!

The Ocean Society is excited to welcome Ocean Enterprises as the Official SCUBA Shop Partner of our San Diego Chapter.

And this partnership comes with a pretty special full circle story.

Nearly 9 years ago, our founder Jasara began her professional dive career in Roatan, Honduras as a Divemaster. She moved to San Diego and started working at Ocean Enterprises, later she completed her IDC PADI instructor training and went on to teach and certify countless divers through Ocean Enterprises.

Years later, she founded Land & Sea Athletics, creating outdoor adventures that bring people together through movement, nature, and the ocean while continuing to partner with Ocean Enterprises as an independent SCUBA instructor.

And now, with The Ocean Society, she’s bringing it all together and bridging the gap between the ocean communities she loves and creating a place for people to dive, explore, connect & belong.

Now we get to bring those communities even closer!

My first ever scuba diving trip and second YouTube video!!!!!! Taking you all the way back in April when my dad took me on a scuba diving trip to Maui, HI.

My dad has been asking me to get certified for the past 8ish years and I always shot the idea down. Mostly out of fear. Then in December of 2025 Rio and I decided to get certified and not tell my dad to surprise him on Christmas. I was terrified and did not think I would actually come to really enjoy scuba diving.

Fast forward to April of 2026, my dad took me to Hawaii and our trip got a bit throw off due to tropical storms. But nonetheless, we had a blast.

If your dad ever asks you to get scuba certified. This is your sign to say yes:)

The Eagle... I mean MANTA has landed in San Diego!
Have you spotted our majestic ocean pancakes gracefully gliding through their natural habitats? 👀
Our dancing mantas have been absolutely THRIVING across San Diego County:
🏄 Photobombing surfers at the beaches
🛍️ Flapping through the racks at @patagoniacardiff (they’re shopping for sustainable fishwear, obviously)

THE LAST DIVE comes to San Diego's @sdbalboatheatre on August 19 backed by an extraordinary alliance of ocean champions! WHAT A LINEUP!

Join Serge Dedina of @wildcoastcostasalvaje, Joel Reynolds of @nrdc_org, Nick Powers of @warfighterscuba, Mark West of @sierraclubsd, and manta researcher Jane Vinesky of @mantatrust and @pelagioskakunja for a post-screening conversation about the healing power of the ocean and how to protect our ocean ecosystems.

We'll start the night with a communal dance by @daybreakersandiego. Experience a group healing meditation with world-renowned @dralman. And we'll end the night with an Indigenous prayer by J.L Jackson of @nativelikewater. @ciaraencinas of @fox5sandiego will guide us through the night as our lovely emcee! Plus we'll have many other groups on-site including @oceanenterprises, @ncscubacenter, @ssi_international, @veteransvillageofsd, and more!
