#BREAKING: @loopfestshropshire has announced that @ocsmusic will headline a major outdoor concert at The Quarry in Shrewsbury on Friday 30 April 2027, joined by special guests @sleeperofficial.

The concert forms part of LOOPFEST 2027, taking place from Thursday 29 April to Sunday 2 May, and marks an ambitious new chapter for the independent Shrewsbury music festival.

Ocean Colour Scene, one of Britain's most recognisable guitar bands, rose to prominence during the 1990s with a string of hits including The Riverboat Song, The Day We Caught the Train, You've Got It Bad and Hundred Mile High City. Their landmark album Moseley Shoals became one of the defining British guitar records of the decade, and the band continue to draw large audiences across the country.

"We didn’t have a week off, really. I can’t remember us really having a day off, but that was our life. We lived and breathed it. And you look forward to now, 30 years on, and people still relate to those songs. They mean something to so many people. We do these arena shows, which are incredible — we play these really big gigs — and people come up to us and tell us they grew up listening to Moseley Shoals."

"OCS were developing as a band at that time. We moved to Moseley and got into Bob Lamb’s studio. We were there every single day. I’d write songs the night before and then we’d go into the studio and record them. We’d either work, go out and get wasted, or write. There was nothing else. It was just that. The whole thing was intensely creative, with drugs, music, with no sleep. We lived and breathed the band."

"I started playing music when I was very young. I got a guitar for my ninth birthday and began playing American folk songs from a book I’d got, like Red River Valley and Hush Little Baby Don’t You Cry. I had a book of show tunes, too, from America. God knows what made me buy that book but I did and I learned things by Irving Berlin and Cole Porter, which was fantastic."
