As we continue our community outreach efforts to find those responsible for killing our Victoria, we are extremely grateful for the support of some of our elected officials like OC Supervisor Sarmiento 🙏

In 2019, @ocsupsarmiento was the Councilman for the area in which Victoria was killed.

Upon reaching out to him for support, simply via IG, he immediately responded and wanted to know more.

We had a very long conversation, and he instantly pledged his support.

But what I remember most is that he asked about Victoria. He wanted to know about HER. Who SHE was. And, who we were as a family.

Of course, I was happy to share some things about her life and upbringing and the love that was within our family, along with the roots that we have in this city.

He listened intently and asked questions. He was touched. And, I had no doubt about that.

Through these past 4 years, he continues to show kindness, compassion, and consideration in all that he does.

He does not hesitate to attend our events, often with his family, and has been a consistent donor to our cause.

His wife, children, and mom - of course - greet us with open arms and constantly remind us of their prayers for our Victoria, our family, and for justice.

Last month, he made our highest donation yet, which is assisting with: the placement of
4 digital billboards throughout OC (coming soon), newspaper/social media ads, and various outreach items.

Thank you, Supervisor, for your continued support and generosity.

Please know that you are making a difference and that we are forever grateful. 🙏

I hope that others in his position - local, state, and federal - can pledge to do the same.

🗓Please show your support too by attending our upcoming Rally & Fundraiser and helping to share Victoria’s story.

I want to share a personal story that connects me to WisePlace in a very special way. As a high school student at Santa Ana High School, I had the privilege of participating in the ROP program. It was through this program that I first stepped foot into WisePlace. I vividly remember walking over to this location, where I would sort mail, perform typical office duties, and even have the responsibility of closing the front and back office. It was during that time that I truly grasped the significance of this place, the meaning it held for the women who sought shelter here.

Today, as your Vice Mayor and OCHFT board member, we celebrate the fact that WisePlace offers homes at rates that are affordable for every household, recognizing the reality that the area median income doesn't always reflect people's true circumstances. These units will serve our most vulnerable population, providing them with vital supportive services.

WisePlace will continue to be more than just a roof over their heads; it will be a home, a sanctuary, a place of safety where residents can take pride in where they live.

On behalf of the entire Trust Board, I am immensely proud to announce our commitment to funding $2.48 million to help finance WisePlace. This investment represents our firm belief in the importance of affordable housing and our dedication to making a positive impact in our community.

It is through collaboration that we can address the urgent need for affordable housing. WisePlace stands as a testament to the incredible possibilities that lie ahead as we continue to work together, particularly on regional issues such as affordable housing, PSH and homelessness. It's a complex problem, but through collaboration and dedication, we can make a significant difference in people's lives.

Together, we are forging a brighter future, one where affordable housing is not just a dream, but a reality for all.

Today I held a roundtable discussion with @ocsupsarmiento, @lgbtqcenteroc, and local LGBTQ+ leaders which culminated in the unfurling of the Pride Flag at the Old Orange County Courthouse. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

The Pride flag stands for inclusivity and diversity to represent different gender identities, ethnicities, and sexual orientations. To say that this flag is divisive caters to the hateful rhetoric of a vocal minority at city, school board, and county meetings not just in Orange County, but across the nation.

Unfurling the Pride flag at the county administration buildings signals to our employees and all residents that this is a safe, inclusive place for everyone. Love wins – if we can lead with love, our community will be better off. I will continue to stand strong with our LGBTQ+ community and ensure their civil rights remain protected. #pridemonth
