Our family loves engaging public art and we're delighted to stumble onto the Creature Quest in Melrose, MA when we picked up a burrito from @tenochmexican . We will be sharing a few other projects that have been inspiring us lately but we would love to know about other public art projects we should check out so drop suggestions in the comments.

Yesterday’s walk: five miles even. Feeling slightly under the weather, so I’ll take it. Happened to walk by John and Kerry’s house, so that was a nice impromptu visit, although Kerry had to bail before the selfie shenanigans. As usual, spent the walk listening to upcoming music releases for possible review. Among the selections: “Silent Century,” the sophomore album from Jackie West, out on Feb. 27 on Ruination Records. A spectacular record that manages to top her excellent debut.

It’s been a while since me and this guy bonded over beers at @hannahsbrewingco - it was worth the wait.

Had so much fun biking around town looking for these creatures 🥰

Thank you Melrose Cultural Council, Follow Your Art Community Studios, and local artists — Meesh Pottery and Odd Peg Woodworking for putting this together!

🥐 We pregamed with carbs from @the.boho.coffee, headed down Main Street to @fyamelrose, @buckalewsgeneralstore, and @hannahsbrewingco and then back roads to find all 7!

Love our little town so much 💙

The Creature Quest is here!

Follow the link in our bio to find the map that will guide you on your quest. This local art project was made possible by the wonderful people at @melroseculturalcouncil.

How to Play:

1. Find the Creatures - There are seven unique creatures hidden around town - some may be along your walking route, others a short bike ride or drive away.
2. Strike a Pose - Snap a pic with each creature! They love new friends.
3. Share Your Quest - Post your creature selfies on social media and tag
@melroseartsma
@meeshpottery
@oddpegswoodworking

Once you’ve visited all seven creatures, you’ve completed the quest! Send us your pictures, we would love to see them.

Tips
1. Go at your own pace - this is a walk/bicycle/drive adventure designed to be fun for all ages and abilities.
2. Be kind to the creatures - please don’t climb or pull on them - and the neighborhoods where they live.

Have fun!

Birthday Celebration, Part III: record shopping at Green Street Grooves. Second photo: John was there with me and insisted on gifting to me one of the Stones’ more, uh, colorful records and a fairly consistent inside joke from our friendship
