""소리꽃을 위한 서정시 (Ode to Sorikkot)" unfolds as a poetic ritual of collective listening, imagining a time when plants and humans existed in mutual attunement. Continuing from the duo's previous work, S.Abligua X Odekon, the performance draws on mythology, ancestral cosmologies, and speculative ecologies to explore listening as a relational practice that extends beyond language."

A screen glows in a dark room: is it a window, a frame, an image? Somewhere, someone is swiping through faces, profiles, fragments, symbols and signs in a sisyphean search for meaning. Image and text intertwine into a single shapeshifting entity, rendered, rather than engraved. The screen displays an instant communion of pixels generated at a moment’s notice, re-encoding itself perpetually.

Come by, grab your dearest creative media thrilled friends and enjoy the weekend our curatorial team orchestrated for you!

PLANT STORIES #4

🌱 23 August 2025, Saturday
21:00 @zku.berlin

소리꽃을 위한 서정시 (Ode to Sorikkot)

Performance by @oddsonorous

소리꽃을 위한 서정시 (Ode to Sorikkot) is a poetic ritual, chant, and collective listening performance that imagines a time when plants and humans were attuned to one another. Continuing from the previous project S.Abligua X Odekon, Odd Sonorous draws on mythology and ancestral cosmologies to weave together spoken poetry, voice, sound composition, and real-time environmental data collected from the performance site, ZK/U. In a collaboration with ZK/U’s long term project ClimArt, Odd Sonorous processes recorded data from the rooftop weather station and soil sensors.

The live performance invites a form of listening that moves beyond language—into a space where resonance becomes a shared presence, memory moves in cycles, and being unfolds through echoic relation.

Odd Sonourous are @hyewon.suk and @anna_phaenarete_lioka.

Free entry.

Intertwined Dialect, 2021
3-channel sound installation, Berlin, Germany.
Part of Climate Care 2021 at @floatinguniversity

“Intertwined Dialect” by Anna Fainareti Lioka and @hyewon.suk (@oddsonorous ) is a sound installation inspired by the spatial ecology of the Floating University, where human and non-human worlds converge.

The work explores sonic symbiosis, transforming human voices into the calls of birds, both living and extinct, through machine learning. These hybrid, synthetic vocalities are reintroduced into the site, generating an entangled acoustic dialogue across species, timeframes, and environments.

S.Abligua x Odekon, 2022
4 channel Experimental film, archive.

“S.Abligua x Odekon” is an experimental film with 4-channel audio that actively adapts AI technology as a fundamental artistic imagination and inspiration.
The story begins with the discovery of a plant that once produced sound and is now considered extinct. Based on AI-generated visual and verbal botanic archives, the artists embark on a journey to recover the lost sound.

Whether humans have lost the ability to hear plant voices, or plants have ceased to sound within the human audible range, the work weaves ecological, social, and political causes of disconnection into a speculative narrative.

@oddsonorous (Anna Phaenarete Lioka and @hyewon.suk ) proposes listening as an act of reconciliation and symbiosis between humans and nature, through decolonial and decentralized practices made possible by current technology.

We are proud to announce our November season!
Presenting installations, performances, and a listening session, wandering through (un)told stories, memories, and the patterns that underlie human/non-human behaviour.

Here, we traverse the network that connects all beings. The awareness of our bodily presence in the natural world, and examining the complex relationships with our surroundings.

Find programme details on our website. Click the link in our bio to find out more :-)
