A thousand-mile journey began with a single step.

Long before the stages, the microphones, the medical school journey, and the opportunities to speak, there was just a little boy learning memory verses and finding his voice.

Looking back, I can see that none of it happened overnight. Every step was preparing me for the next.

And there’s still so much ahead.

Milestones are earned, not rushed.

Keep becoming. 🌿

Standing here today at my final symposium in the College of Medicine feels surreal.

If you had told that teenager who graduated secondary school in 2018 that this would be his story, he probably wouldn’t have believed you.

I gained admission that same year to study Medical Laboratory Science on scholarship, left after 200 Level, started over again, gained admission once more to University of Lagos only for my course to be changed. ASUU happened and somewhere in the middle of all that uncertainty, I got admitted to study Nursing at the University of Manitoba in Canada. My visa process didn’t come through in time, the session started, and that chapter quietly closed before it could begin.

At the time, it felt like another disappointment. Today, I can honestly say it was one of God’s greatest redirections because staying back gave me so much more than a degree.

It was here that I truly found Christ. It was here that I discovered the man I was becoming. It was here that I built a career creating content, stepped into acting, won a national pageant title on my first attempt, won awards and gained national and international recognition, found opportunities I never imagined, met people who changed my life, and landed a job that continues to shape my future. Some of the greatest blessings of my life happened because I stayed.

In just a few weeks, I’ll be graduating from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos. And while that certificate means everything, it’s the person this journey has made me that I’m most proud of. Every delay, every detour, every closed door was preparing me for a life I couldn’t have planned for myself.

Here’s to the boy who kept going, even when the route changed. Sometimes, the longer road becomes the better story.

See y’all at graduation. ❤️🎓
