It was a greater honor to attend session which was organized by @wwftanzania at Dodoma.

The session focused on positioning youth as the center of conservation and sustainable development efforts. It emphasized the importance of engaging young people in local innovation, leadership skills and engaging multiple stakeholders in the issue of conservation.

Through discussion, knowledge sharing and dialogue, we explored how youth contribute to conservation, reduce environmental degradation and support sustainable development.

Building a sustainable future requires informed, engaged, and empowered youth driving change from (grassroots) community level.

@tzbioorg with the collaboration with @rootgis conducted an awareness session to orient volunteers on the Resilience Atlas Project, which focuses on mapping flood areas along the Msimbazi River. including Kigogo, Mkwajuni, Mandela, Kisiwani, Mbuyuni, Msimbazi Bondeni, Mwinyimkuu, Idrissa and surrounding areas. Emphasis was placed on understanding how improper waste disposal contributes to river blockage, increased flood intensity and other impacts.

The session provided technical guidance on how spatial mapping and data collection can be used to identify key environmental challenges, particularly those associated with solid waste along those selected wards.

On celebrating Earth Day in Tanzania @earthday_tanzania it hosted a restoration activity of planting mangroves trees along Ununio beach ni Dar esSalaam. This aimed to protect our ocean from erosion and flooding while restoring natural ecosystems.
As youth, we showed that collective action matters. Environmental conservation is our shared responsibility and tree planting remains one of the most practical ways to contribute.
This reminded that youth are the centre of decisions in climate related issues.
Let's act for sustainability of tomorrow.

Tanzania Biodiversity Organization (TBO), under the Tanzania Youth Biodiversity Network (TYBN), hosted a mangrove restoration activity along the Kunduchi- Dar es Salaam, in celebration of Earth Day 2026.

Through the Blue Barrier Initiative, through this we gathered together stakeholders and climate activists committed to tackling coastal challenges.
The focus is building resilience against climate change impacts such as erosion and flooding through cost effective method and nature-based solutions.

Together, we planted more than 704 mangrove seedlings, contributing directly to ecosystem restoration and long-term coastal protection.
Real action. Real impact.

Changes doesn't always announce itself loudly, however it begins in everyday spaces like a market.

On 28 March, i participated in a seaweed production activity in Bagamoyo under the guidance of Bagamoyo Entrepreneurs Group (BEG).
During this engagement, I gained practical knowledge to the full seaweed production from ocean cultivation to processing and development of final products.
I learned how seaweed is transformed into value added products such as soap, nutritious flour and body oil.
The experience enhanced my understanding of sustainable use of marine resources and blue economy opportunities to livelihoods and environmental conservation.

According to UNEP ( 2025)"plastic pollution is a global problem. Every year, 19-23 million tonnes of plastic waste leaks into aquatic ecosystems, polluting lakes, rivers, and seas"
"Tanzania produces over 315,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually, with nearly 30,000 tonnes entering water bodies".
This cause severely blocked drainage system, heavily polluted by plastic waste and other debris.
This blockage not only degrades the environment but also increases flooding risks and public health threats. We took action by cleaning the area, but lasting change requires responsible waste management and accountability.

Today at Mwilamvya Mpya Secondary School, we hosted an engaging dialogue with students under the theme: “The Role of Youth in Achieving Climate & Environmental Justice in Tanzania.”

We explored the urgent need for climate action, the critical role of young people in safeguarding our planet, and the importance of integrating environmental education into school programs. Students actively shared their ideas, concerns and solutions proving once again that youth voices are powerful catalysts for a sustainable future.

This dialogue is part of our wider mission to equip the next generation with the knowledge, skills and platforms they need to champion climate justice. Together, we are planting seeds of change that will grow into a greener, fairer tomorrow.

A heartfelt thank you to our esteemed supporters for making this possible. @globalgreengrants @peacefirstorg

From the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the world produces around 400 million tonnes of plastic waste each year. Estimates vary, but recent high-quality studies suggest that between 1 and 2 million tonnes of plastic enter the oceans annually. That means 0.5% of plastic waste ends up in the ocean.
So, there is the need to reduce the amount of the plastics from our daily activities, including single use of plastics.

Mango is one of the most popular fruits of society.
After knowing that we have continued the process of collection of mango seeds for the mango nursery to reach the community in response to climate change but also to give them the vitamins needed in mangoes.
This will greatly help reduce the carbon dioxide in the sky but the community gets a new smile of fresh air and fruit on the mangoes.
Planting to smile together.

It was an incredible day at Sabasaba Market, so I am proud to have joined hands with Sumajkt, UDOM students, and Dodoma City Council for a massive cleaning drive, all thanks to WWF-Tanzania
This activity ensured youth inclusion and fostering a deep sense of responsibility for our environment. When we work together, we can create impactful change and build a cleaner, greener future for everyone.
Let's keep this spirit going
