Had such a fun (and eventful) morning meeting sweet Hamilton (@official_hops ) who, if you can't tell, is obsessed with rescue vehicles! I made him a personalized firefighter jacket which went perfectly with his firefighter pants and crocs. And, of course, brought along some toys for him and his brother and some goodies for his mom! He travels to NYC for treatment at MSK for neuroblastoma🎗️

His NYPD K9 friend also stopped by (thanks to @candlelightersnyc ) which was super adorable!

Love you Hamilton and see you soon!💛💛

I have paced with you in a hospital hallway. Memorized your coffee order so that it’s one less thing for you to carry. I’ve seen you hold it together through life-changing scans, lab results and side effects of treatment. I’ve seen you pick up your other kids from school all while masking what is happening on the other side of reality. I’ve had the absolute honor of listening to you read scan results as they are being posted to MyChart in real time, crying with you at good news and bad. I’ve watched you become more than you could have ever imagined. I’ve watched you wonder the same thing I have - will our babies get to come home? We have cried more tears than I thought humanly possible, but we have also smiled more through this journey than I would have ever imagined. You are the light in this story. Always have been. Happy Mother’s Day to the strongest ones on earth. I am so lucky.

In Bugembe, Jinja, some children go to bed after just one meal a day.

Not because their parents don’t care.
Not because they are careless.
But because there is simply not enough to go around.

One meal is shared among many small hands.
And for a child, hunger becomes something they learn to live with, not complain about.

In this same place, many families live on just 1–2 meals a day. Three meals is not a routine—it is a struggle. Hunger here does not look like crisis every day… it looks like everyday survival.

But this was never meant to be normal.

“Give us this day our daily bread.”

That prayer is not just words here—it is life.

And it raises a hard question for anyone hearing it:
what does “daily bread” mean when daily is already not enough?

We believe God doesn’t only hear that prayer—He responds through people willing to act.

Maybe that is where you come in.

Because hunger here does not announce itself.
It just stays… quietly, day after day.

If even one child could eat consistently because someone cared enough to respond, then this is not a small thing.

In the interest of full transparency, it was not easy peasy lemon squeezy

Here's the "She's back" I was talking about

When she finally came off of the drugs, it was a 180. I can't tell you how shocked we all were, doctors and picu nurses included! She was just normal Lenny.

Each hour was lowering drug doses, getting out for more walks (with our buddy Hamilton), slowly loosing tubes, her drain from her neck was pulled while she was wide awake just watching Bluey, IVs came off, monitors came off. It was the biggest breath of fresh air!

I finally felt the "okay, wow, she did it, we did it" 😭

So blessed to have our family together for Mother’s Day! A boat ride to dockside brunch, discovering hidden islands, dolphins and afternoon golf was the icing on the Mother’s Day cake!
