People often ask me why I photograph luxury hotels.
The truth is...

I’m not photographing the buildings.
I’m photographing a feeling.
The moment someone finally exhales.
The moment the constant noise of everyday life fades into the background.
The moment they stop looking at their watch and start looking at the horizon.
Because that is what luxury has become.

Not more.
But less.
Less urgency.
Less pressure.
Less noise.

And in a world that constantly asks us to do more, be more and move faster...
A place that invites you to simply be might just be the greatest luxury of all.

My friend Hughie says Scotland is ‘God’s own country’ - and here I am, right at its northern-most tip, next stop the Arctic Circle - and it is hard to disagree. What Anders and Anne Povlsen are doing at @wildland.scot is ambitious, challenging and extraordinary. This is Europe’s largest conservation project, a 200-year plan focused on careful restoration and protection of nature for the long-term. On the shores of Loch Hope their newest lodge is exceptional by any international standard. It has an explorers spirit and style in spades. We dunked in the river every day, we hiked to waterfalls, we had picnics in the spongy ground and snoozed in the sunshine while someone somewhere talked about peat. It is very moving to see what can be achieved with a generous commitment to the environment. And the people here - from host, to guide to chef - are at the top of their game for sure. On the last morning I walked to where the river meets the sea, I listened to the burn trickle and dollop besides me while in the distance the North Sea thundered and roiled. And I watched the weather. And in my head I’m watching the weather still. ☁️☀️💧 Thank you @julesperowne @nomimilleroo @perowneinternational @christophkenned it was all remarkable! (Plus, I’m coming backlkkkkk, you can’t stop me)

A total joy and treat to be among the first handful of guests at Hope Lodge as it opens its doors to the world. It is a new benchmark for Scottish hospitality, no doubt. More to be revealed in due course.

Huge congratulations to @wildland.scot @cecileandboyds @_gras

What a week!!! A gorgeous article from @offshoots for @condenasttraveller (in the most current issue if you want to have a flick through ☺️), meanwhile the site is looking like summer has arrived and our tennis court is finally finished and looking ever so smart 😍

This year, I moved to my dream location, Hampstead, after 12 years of living in Islington. Closer to my family and to nature.

I put my life in the hands of a rock ‘n’ roll band, hosted lots, and went on many Heath walks and wild swims.

I launched my own women’s health podcast, Owning Space.

We celebrated my dad’s 75th and my parents’ 50th anniversary, I danced a lot with friends, met some incredibly inspiring people, had airtime with two icons @sarahjessicaparker and @elizabday, grew closer to some of my favourite people, and spent meaningful time with my family.

A year that felt grounding, expansive, and full of love.

Looking forward to more of the same next year 🫶🏽🧡

four days wild camping and kayaking the sankt anna archipelago—6000 tiny islands in the north of sweden teeming with birds, seaweed and, briefly, four city chicks looking for some respite and a bit of adventure. @elizabailey @offshoots @graniachesterton another one for the memory bank 🌲🛶 cc. @dothenorth
