CANALS is the debut album by Sanea Ima & Vanja Sturno.

The album is out and available as LP/digital since a few days on @ofnot___ the superb imprint of @_kamaru_

“It’s an album that’s best absorbed as a whole, a vortex of ritualistic, rhythmic repetitions that Sturno and Geeraert appropriately refer to as “spiral listening”.

Shaped from fragile, emotionally charged piano motifs that distort, disappear and transform into dense, cinematic textures, ‚CANALS‘ is a debut that’s finely matured, the result of years of friendship and growth. Italian artist Vanja Sturno and Montréal-based Belgian-Spanish composer Pablo Geeraert (aka Sanea Ima) have worked together extensively on various projects up until now, but ‚CANALS‘ is their first official release as a duo. Having both studied music academically, the pair were eager to work more intuitively, so applied their well-honed set of skills to sound that, instead of fitting into a conceptual box, reflected more personal experiences.

Last Friday, we released our collaborative debut record on @ofnot___ , and we’re very excited to finally share it with the world.

We’ve been making music together for years now, and this record feels particularly special to us. It began with a few piano motifs recorded during an afternoon in Rome, and naturally evolved into what it is today.

It was only after finishing the album that we realised the process had allowed us to release a certain pressure surrounding shared feelings tied to particular moments in our lives.

We want to give a special thanks to @_kamaru_ for the support, care, and trust in helping us share this music.

We’re also deeply grateful to everyone involved in bringing this release into the world.

Being „alone“ is a physical state where you are physically by yourself.
Being „lonely“ is an emotional state where you are feeling alone or disconnected from others - even when they’re right next to you

Earlier this month, I headed over to @dublab.cat for the final First Floor radio show of the year. I also played many of my favorite tracks from 2025, and if you didn’t get a chance to listen live (or simply HAVE to hear it again), the episode has now been archived online with a complete tracklist. Enjoy!

HxH 2025 was strong! We released our debut album and toured Europe for the first time. Played some incredible shows and the music brought us together with lots of special people. Thanks to all that supported and listened to the music we released. Huge thanks to @_kamaru_ @ofnot___ for believing in the work we put in together. Thanks to @marcissist and @firstfloor_newsletter for including us in your EOY lists 🖤
