I used to be shocked when my clients told me they had been offered the opportunity to do a Zoom or in-person audition, but had opted to make a self-tape instead. Why would anyone pass up the chance to get help and feedback from casting directors who know exactly what creative is looking for?

It soon became clear — many actors are nervous about live auditions. They’re uncertain how to navigate a session with a casting director and worried about being able to take adjustments on the fly.

Here’s why I always suggest taking the Zoom — and how to navigate the session.

Learning technique won’t land you a job. But not learning it can prohibit you from getting one.

You could be doing the best acting in the world but if you are too loud, moving around too much, and we can’t see your eyes? We may very well miss it.

These techniques aren’t easy to learn — and they take practice!

That’s why I’ve developed some great tricks, tools, and exercises to help you master these techniques so that you never have to think about them.

Actors, if you are taping an audition and things start to feel like they’re going sideways, or the scene isn’t coming out the way you planned- DON’T BAIL!

99.999/100 times this will be you BEST TAKE. Why? Because we are forced to listen, think quickly, and FOCUS to cross the finish line. It’s scary to feel like we aren’t in control, but relinquishing control is what allows us to PLAY!

Time and again I have seen actors bail out on an incredible take, which is why I now enforce my No Bail Rule. I am not about to let that magical take slip between your fingers!

🌟BOOKED IT! 🌟After coaching with Eden, client Chala Savino booked MARGO’S GOT MONEY TROUBLES on Apple TV!

I’m so pumped every time Chala reaches out to me for coaching- she’s just so 👏Darn 👏Good 👏. She shows up with her unique point of view on a character, and we always get so many fun takes because she’s down to PLAY. Color me not-at-all surprised to see her sharing the screen with the likes of Michelle Pfeiffer and Elle Fanning!

“Endless gratitude to my coach Eden, whose insight and support were instrumental in bringing this role to life. This is my second booking with Eden! And sometimes I am just rusty. Eden will get me in shape and ready within an hour of working with her.” - Chala Savino

Auditioning should be fun. Let’s play.

Actors, for your next self tape try this:

Rather than of thinking about a “right” or “wrong” way to do a scene, consider this: are your choices supported by the text?

Hone your craft this summer — a few spots remaining in virtual class. Link in bio to register.

Booked it! 🤩. Thrilled to have worked with Michelle Pfeiffer, my childhood icon and Elle Fanning. I’m not even sure if I was acting. Michelle is so good I thought she was really mad at me😉

Still in shock it’s actually happening.
Huge thanks to Coach Eden - none of this would be possible without her support.

Swipe for the audition that kicked it all off. #WorkingActor #SelfTape #OnSet #ActorsLife #BookedIt
