Hi, 👋🏼 We’re Jesse & Sako coming to you as TOYA, a coffee pop-up at the Ayako & Family U District Market booth.

This Saturday and next, 10/10 and 10/17, we’ll be serving pour-over coffee featuring our friends @stampactcoffee single origin beans alongside our regular toast menu.

This weekend, we’ll be pouring Mwendi Wega from Kirinyaga, Kenya. We are very excited to be serving this coffee: it has some lovely darker fruit notes, like blackberry and black cherry, with the warm sweetness of molasses. A fall transitional cup, this is an expressive drink on its own and also compliments our jams well. You can read more about the mill and the farmers of this variety on Stamp Act’s website (and we encourage it :))

You can purchase a cup à la carte or as a set with a slice of toast.

We hope to see you this weekend ☕️ 9-2p, saturdays only.

☕️Thanks For Making The Best Espresso Macchiatos in Seattle

Stella and I went on a little adventure today to go and celebrate the man, the legend, and the coolest cat in the neighborhood @ohjeseul.

Jesse’s Espresso Macchiato game is like none other. The perfect foam matched with hearts of foam art in tiny ceramic glasses are pure perfection. Most folks toss a splash of foam on top of the espresso or turn the espresso into a cappuccino. Not Jesse! He gets a thrill out of creating the perfect mini drink. Words cannot describe the joy I feel every time I walk out with my baby macchiato done the proper way. Jesse can be found at the bar at @porchlightcoffee Tuesday through Thursdays!

Tysm to everyone who came out to our collaboration with Club Sandwich this past weekend. :) Extra gratitude to my friend and kitchen conspirator, Kayla, for inviting me into her space to cook and bop heads in the back while folks danced and DJ’s kept the heartbeat strong throughout the night.

I have been talking with my restaurant / food industry peers over the last year, trying to figure out how we can work together on projects in a sustainable way. Collaborations fueled our community back in 2020, when connecting with folks was vital to our wellbeing, at a time when isolation became embedded in our survival as well. It pains me to see that folks are continuing to lean on isolation as the answer to exhaustion and feeling of economic constraint, manufactured by the state to keep us relying on capitalist motives and to keep us rooted in the feeling of loneliness and how to come up for air when no one is on the other side to grab our hand.

I am so relieved to have reopened this door again, to remember what it is like to tend to our spirits through the brilliance of others, that food is still a need, parties are not merely for the able bodied and elite, that gathering does not preclude each others’ safety, and that we absolutely need each other to thrive.

As someone wrote on the tables: making slippy sloppy, trying to do my best. Let’s do it again.

Friends, friends and more friends, like I always say, my friends that are my family. ⁣⁣⠀
My whole family is in Argentina, I have no blood relatives here in US, so I have been lucky enough to find all these beautiful people along the way to help me heal. ⁣⁣⠀
Jesse was the first one, the blue print for my future friends, from there I aspired to have friends as good as him. ⁣⁣Thank you amigo.
My community has truly supported me and sustained me through it all. ⁣⁣⠀
