Dear Alumni,

The Alumni Art Show: “Outside the Lines: Art Across Disciplines” has been scheduled for May 2, 2025, and we are so thankful for those who participated in the past and very excited to show off the new art in the art therapy suite!

LMU’s Marital and Family Therapy with Specialized Training in Art Therapy invites alumni to submit their work for consideration in our upcoming exhibition: “Outside the Lines: Art Across Disciplines.” This exhibition seeks to showcase artworks that draw inspiration from and engage with diverse fields of study, such as history, mathematics, science, literature, and beyond. We already have some pieces that have been selected, but we need more.

Art has always been intertwined with other disciplines, enriching and expanding its creative boundaries. From the intricate patterns found in mathematics to the timeless narratives of mythology, artists have found endless inspiration in the vast expanse of human knowledge. Through this exhibition, we aim to highlight the dynamic relationship between art and other fields of study, exploring how ideas, concepts, and narratives from various disciplines influence and shape artistic expression. Whether through creative process, symbolic representation, or abstract exploration, we encourage artists to examine the intersections between art and other disciplines.

Eligibility: Open to all alumni.

Medium: All visual art mediums are welcome.

Submission Instructions:
1. Artists may submit up to three artworks for consideration (please provide dimensions of artwork)
2. Include high-quality image of the artwork
3. Include a brief description (maximum 200 words) outlining the interdisciplinary influences and concepts behind each piece.
4. Please email your submissions to maria.serricchio-joiner@lmu.edu with the subject line: “Outside the Lines.”

Deadline: The submission deadline is November 15th

Notification: Selected artists will be notified via email in December. The show will be in the art therapy suite at LMU for up to 2 years. An opening for the show will be the evening of Friday May 2nd, 2025, more details to come, make sure to save the date!

GUESS WHOS BACK ON THAT POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH BULLSHIT! Oh hai it’s me! I have decided to take control of my brain again, and get my mental together, lucky for you that means an abundance of pics and over-sharing! YAY. Lol, be prepared for some deep dives and “insights” posting about how I’m feeling helps me to work through what’s happening, if you don’t like it #sorrynotsorry.

I am officially of the mindset of “I will be happy or else I’ll fire you” with my brain. Kthxbye 😘
