So much love to all of you who turned out in NY to celebrate Fresh Flowers and Sage with me—and the months of experimentation, and love that went into the EP, now on Spotify! 🫶🫶🫶

Been a busy few weeks, so this recap is a bit late- but @uncanny_va11ey birthday weekend was magical! Such a wonderful gathering of people who love board games, crosswords, birding, billiards, and the outdoors. The cabin included a little orchard and a large costume closet.

@iamstephanepain and I got some trail runs in on the Appalachian Trail, I caught frogs and toads, added a few birds to the life list (ruby-throated hummingbird, broad-winged hawk), saw a mole (it was dead, but cute). We harvested and ate cherry tomatoes off the vine, spun records all weekend, played 90’s Trivial Pursuit, had dark horse winners in all the tournaments, and made s’mores.

Happy Birthday @uncanny_va11ey !! Thanks to you and @hanger64 for super fun weekend.

To end the weekend, @iamstephanepain and I packed up Beep Beep (yes we named the car) and set off to the north.

We are pleased to introduce you to our artist behind the month of November, Olivia Trương @ohtea

🎨 Olivia Trương is a creative soul hailing from Toronto and now resides in New York City. She enjoys immersing herself in diverse culinary experiences and a myriad of eccentric activities to seek new inspirations and fuel her artistic endeavors.

🌱 For her illustration, she describes, “””We Are What We Heal”” depicts two figures nurturing a plant, its roots forming a hand that supports them in return. This illustration reflects the essential role of the communities we turn to for collective healing as we navigate the challenges of life.”

We’re grateful for Olivia’s beautiful contribution to our CÂYlendar 2025.

Thank you @aaa___nnie for the flyer design

Annie drew inspiration from the deep-rooted international solidarity between the Vietnamese and Palestinian struggles against US colonialism when creating this design. Echoing the concept of “bảo bọc,” meaning to cover and protect, symbolizes our unity and resilience. Despite the attempts of Israel and US-backed military forces to divide us, we remain connected by a strong foundation of solidarity, belief, and love. Additionally, this design pays tribute to the Palestinian poet Mourid Barghouti’s quote, “The wall cannot separate the olive tree from its roots,” capturing the enduring bond and unbreakable spirit of our shared struggles.

“Bảo Bọc Gaza,” a fundraiser is made possible by nearly 70 Vietnamese artists, designers, and authors worldwide. All proceeds will go to The Sameer Project @thesameerproject, Gaza Sunbirds @gazasunbirds, and Operation Olive Branch @operationolivebranch.

We have put together a digital storefront displaying a wide range of works in various media that you can purchase. The storefront is hosted on our Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/dumboc/shop/gazafundraiser (also linked in bio). You can easily navigate different categories by going through the tags on top of the shop. We will cover all fees, so beneficiaries receive the full proceeds.

Bảo Bọc means to cover and to protect. Bảo Bọc Gaza is a Vietnamese-led and Vietnamese-centric fundraiser for Palestinians suffering from Israel’s genocidal violence. Albeit miniscule in scale, this is us diasporic Vietnamese folks standing in solidarity and extending a much-needed helping hand to as many Palestinians as we could.

Join us in this collective effort by purchasing the artworks and by sharing this fundraiser.

From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.

Từ sông
sâu đến biển rộng, Palestine sẽ tự do.
