Had a birthday dinner for my beautiful cousin @sarahszeto and her daughter at @oiji.mi in NYC. The restaurant was very lively and the food was great. We appreciate the staff being so accommodating as well. One thing I learned now and will stay with me forever… is to never fight for the bill in front of a toddler or she will have the image of you trying to steal her purse mums purse living rent free in her memory for the rest of her life 🤣😅😭😭 happy birthday Sarah!

Oiji Mi (@oiji.mi) is chef Brian Kim’s Michelin-starred Flatiron restaurant, a polished, contemporary take on Korean cooking that has become one of our most reliable New York favorites. I’ve been a handful of times now: for dates, with family, for business meetings, and most recently for a girls’ night, and it works for all of them. It was such a good night, and it has been perfect every time.

The main dining room serves a five-course prix fixe, with each course reinterpreting familiar Korean flavors with restraint and creativity. It’s the kind of menu that feels both comforting and new, and it’s well paced, so a long conversation never feels rushed. The lounge and bar offer à la carte options if you want something more casual, and the bar saves most of its seats for walk-ins. Dishes that get talked about a lot include the Oiji bowl, the lobster ramyun, and the beef tartare.

The room is polished without being stiff, and the service is consistently warm. That range is what makes it special: a date, a client dinner, a family celebration, or a night out with friends.

Behind every unforgettable plate, there's one mind that refused to play it safe. 🔥✨

Here are some of our top picks for starred tables driven by a bold chef vision. Think tasting counters where the chef decides everything, kitchens that double as stages, and plates shaped by mountain foraging, Roman markets, and years spent at the world's best tables.

Save this for your next fine-dining splurge and tell us whose table you'd book first!

🇰🇷 Lobster 🦞 Ramyun + chili 🌶️ + sesame + cucumber 🥒 | @oiji.mi

Korea’s love 💕 affair with noodles 🍜 spans centuries, but two 2️⃣ traditions have distinctly different histories.

Naengmyeon (냉면), the celebrated cold-noodle dish originating in northern Korea, dates back to the Joseon dynasty (1392–1897). Curiously, what is now associated with summer was originally a winter delicacy, traditionally enjoyed in chilled broth.

Ramyun (라면), is a modern arrival, introduced from Japan in 1963 as an inexpensive source of nourishment during South Korea’s postwar food shortages. Made primarily from wheat flour, its springy noodles are typically served hot in a boldly seasoned broth, unlike naengmyeon’s traditionally buckwheat- or starch-based noodles served cold.

👨🏻‍🍳 @bskimoiji bridges 🌉 these two eras with his signature ✅ lobster ramyun — a contemporary hybrid combining the springy wheat noodles of ramyun with the chilled preparation of Korea’s older cold-noodle tradition. Dressed in a creamy sesame sauce and crowned with poached lobster, Korean chili flakes, cucumber and fresh herbs, it is distinctly different from traditional naengmyeon. A thoughtful reinterpretation of Korean culinary heritage through the lens of contemporary fine dining.
