No tää oli yks niistä.

Been a week of peak bagging straight into dead horsing… but somehow that’s when things start to click. Riding lines I’ve been thinking about for a long time, and sharing some of them with a crew of Finnish riders who always seem to be at the right place at the right time. Made me think… Who really rides more lines in good conditions? The dedicated amateur who builds everything around a short high season, or the pro whose whole life is built on riding? Both paths feel pretty damn good. And somehow they always seem to cross… latest in a shady parking lot, when everyone’s ready to hike through bushwhack, skin on crust and ice… just to find that one steep, stable line with a bit of fresh on top. This is the season! #arcticlines

Progression as I like it! The first splitboarding trip of the season always brings with it some nervous thoughts. How is the snowpack, what about our crew and its abilities? Where should we head to, what kind of risks am I willing to take? Today, after riding down one of the must-do couloirs of Lyngen in really good snow, I realised that this time we did everything right. Slow and steady, progressing one step at the time. Having a partner who I knew fairly well, but with whom I hadn't been touring before there was a day or two of getting to know each others flow and approach to the mountains.  It took also time to figure out the unknowns, fight the first urge to sherd the best light and snow, dial up the new gear and get the confidence back. It's hard to predict what kind of feelings and thoughts you'll find yourself having when you have a tough decision right in front of you. Eventually the decisions we made along the trip turned out to be the correct ones and at the end of our time in Lyngen I had a peace of mind. We hadn't pushed ourselves or each other to take risks that we didn't want to take. We didn't base our judgement on what other did around. We stayed practical and patient. We - made - good - decisions - period. More trips like this please. Partner in decisions: @oilinki @strandasnowboards – Day 01 Cloudy, new riding partners, no expectations. Other than socks, I had all the gear from knee down completely new.  Day 02 Patience is the virtue. With a weather window in the forecast, why not take it easy and go for some fun runs in the trees? And snack well. Day 03 The day of the trip. A bluebird with low wind always brings the hype. Cool stuff ought to go down. This time it truly took guts to turn back from a dream line, especilly when around you other people are taking the big risks and riding cool terrain. Day 04 The mountains are not going anywhere. So we decided to go back to our line the day after the weather window. With no new snow and the windslab more settled, we were able to ride our line with no stress and with good conscience. Just the way I like it.

How is it already mid-January? 🤯 We’re back at the office and back in the flow with new portraits, familiar faces and plenty of energy for what’s ahead. The year is officially on. And just so you know: 2026 isn’t just any year for us. It’s Flatlight’s 20th anniversary, and we’re only getting started. This one’s going to be memorable. 🎬✨ Up for a challenge? So are we. 🚀 #expectnorthing #flatlightcreative

Made by the North. Built to last. The past year challenged us in many ways. The market shifted, uncertainty was everywhere, and long-term thinking was tested across the industry. But this is where we come from. And this is where we are strong. At Flatlight, we believe in building things that last. In doing the work properly, even when the conditions are tough. In trusting people, craft and collaboration over shortcuts. Throughout the year, we worked on brand strategies, visual productions and spatial experiences that demanded focus, resilience and creativity. Not everything was easy. But everything was real. We’re proud of our team for the way they showed up. We’re grateful for our partners and clients who trusted us. And we’re excited about what lies ahead. This is what it means to be made by the North. And built to last. Expect Northing. 👉 flatlight.fi #Flatlight #YearlyRecap #ExpectNorthing #northerncreativity
