Not your average saguaro 🌵✨

Crested saguaros are a rare natural mutation that causes the cactus to grow in a fan-like shape instead of straight upward. Occurring in only about 1 out of every 200,000 saguaros, no two are exactly alike, making them one of the Sonoran Desert’s most unique sights.

Did you know crested saguaros are this rare?

Mingus Traverse 80 took us from Prescott to Sedona. It was an amazingly beautiful course with parts I haven’t gotten to see before. What a ride.

Thankful to Alicia texting words of encouragement, all the friends on trail who spent silent miles moving towards a finish line that at some points seemed unreachable, amazing aid station volunteers, more friends I got to leapfrog with and swap stories with at aid stations & most importantly, Rob who knows how my brain works & can always re-frame things for me at my lowest points. If you haven’t done something really challenging in a while, go find something! Guarantee you’ll surprise yourself.

Phantom Fall Friday! Alicia & I have been in the Canyon more times than we can count but we got a lovely surprise last week when we decided to go explore a creek feeding into Bright Angel Creek. We’ve never noticed it before. Determined to find where the source was, we kept following it upstream until we turned the last corner & saw the double waterfall! We love it when nature shows off ❤️

Pepper has spent 2,448 days in boarding.

That’s over 6 years of waiting.

Waiting for someone to choose her.
Waiting for a moment like today.

Today, she met her person.
Tomorrow, she goes home.

Some dogs wait longer than they ever should… but it only takes one person to change everything.

Another successful year for our runners at Melendrez Pass Aid Station, miles 8 and 42 of @old_pueblo_endurance_runs! We try to bring the good vibes on the tippie top of the mountain. Lots of bottle filling, quesadilla cooking and a little bit of chill time. I’m grateful to my volunteers, who really rocked the house to get our runners in, out and happy! Great day!

Mog 100 DNF. Perfect weather. My legs felt amazing. My ankle and foot, which I’ve been working on for a long time, felt the best they had yet. I was eating well. Got through two of the descents I was most worried about. Puked on a climb around mile 20 but rallied and felt great. Saw my crew and reloaded. Everything felt like it was going along. Talked to several peeps. Got through 4 of the 6 climbs by around mile 38. My friend Ben was at Myrtle Aid and gave me the BEST energy.

Got to crew about 4 miles later, restocked, and picked up my pacer @azrunnershigh. I was in high spirits. But maybe 30 minutes later it went downhill. I started puking and anytime I put anything in me, it came back up. Headache. Dizziness. Stopping a lot. Ashley was super encouraging out there.

By the time we got to Pinchot Cabin (mile 52), I felt so done. I knew I had a couple of friend there who would help me all they could though (@elcoyoterubio and @okie2az) And @bck1221 was there to give me shit 😏Tried everything and nothing was staying down Finally a banana stayed down. I was shaking so bad from the calorie deficit. With about 10 minutes left until cutoff, I stopped shaking and we took off with more bananas.

I had a burst of energy leaving Pinchot but soon enough I was puking again and then dry heaving. Moving super slow. Any climbing was gut-wrenching. Heart pounding. Headache coming back. Double vision creeping in. I got to crew with about 30 minutes to make the next cutoff and I had nothing left. Even if I made it, I didn’t have the energy for those last two climbs.

Super disappointed and up and down with emotions. I trained my legs and my gut for this… but the gut didn’t cooperate. And y’all, I focused so much on fueling for this training block.

More to come on the podcast. Today? Washing all my stinky clothes and taking it all in.

Shoutout to my amazing crew, my coach @itslizmyers who trained me so well that my legs could have made that 100+ miler a reality and they actually feel good today, and to all the humans who DMed, commented, and texted me…forever grateful.

It was a hard 21+ hours but I’ve got it pretty good.

Good effort. Positive attitude. 💛🧡🏔️

Circle of Hell ⭕️🔥👻 throughout the years (2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2019!)

Every year, a group of us *willingly* line up at 2pm in the blazing heat to run 1-mile loops for 3 hours straight… for fun. No shade, no mercy, just as many laps as your body and brain can handle in peak summer heat. 🌶️ ☀️

This year delivered classic conditions: 100° but Strava says it felt like 103°. I managed 16 laps- a personal best(!) and landed another spot on the podium with some fast ladies!

It’s a test of patience, perseverance, hydration, and just the right amount of stubbornness. But it’s also full of laughs, ice baths, heat-induced delirium, and some of the best people to suffer alongside.

Year six is in the books. Hell is hot, but the vibes are hotter 🔥

Training for 2025 Mountain races. A great day of climbing up Mt. Ord. We found some snow at the top.

Third time is a charm! 3️⃣
@okie2az is back for go number three at the Mogollon Monster 100 mile and piggybacking off her past experiences, she’s lived, learned, and ready to earn that buckle this year.

Let’s go, Alicia!
