When we moved from Texas to Hyattsville this summer, we knew we’d be taking on a few home projects in our new home, which was previously owned/lived in by a group of nuns!
The house was incredibly well maintained, but much of it was original, and we’ve spent the last few months updating the kitchen and bathrooms, uncovering some interesting quirks along the way, and slowly filling the rooms with vintage furniture we’ve collected over the years.
One of my favorite parts of the process has been discovering all the incredible vintage shops, architectural salvage stores, and secondhand treasures around the DMV (please tag your favorites, I want to visit them all!) After years of sourcing and selling vintage furniture in Texas through @stampworthygoods, it’s been so fun getting to explore a whole new area!
We still have plenty of projects ahead of us (and a few rooms that are very much works in progress), but we’re loving making this house our own and getting to know the Hyattsville community along the way! Huge shout out to our realtors at @kartaproperties for finding this gem of a home for us

Thank you for showing up!! For moving, breathing, journaling, and being honest with yourselves and each other. Each of you brought your energy, your strength, and your softness with you to Autoshop and chose to shared all of it freely with intention. 🧡

Some of you came with friends, sisters and mothers. Some of you came alone. Our hope is that every one of you left with a strong sense of community and belonging. We believe you were here on purpose. 🧡

HER is now and will always be a safe space for women, by women, in support of women. Each of you helped embody that intention and we are forever grateful. 🧡

the Beltway Brawl VII is officially in the books.

the decision didn’t go my way, but I’m walking away feeling like a winner. locked in for 4 months, lost 20 pounds, and raised $12k for Haymakers for Hope—a cause that matters a lot more than a scorecard.

i stepped into this sport not really knowing what i was signing up for, just looking for something to do with my spare time. it was easily one of the best decisions I’ve ever made; boxing has truly changed my life.

none of this could’ve been possible without Kelly, Eric, and everyone else who stepped into the ring to help me prepare for that night.

i fought this one for my grandmother. i think she’d be proud of me for just getting in that ring.

didn’t get the win, but i got everything else. on to what’s next!

HYROX DC | Sept ‘26 — THE RECAP

The hard truth is, no video can fully capture the energy, the nerves, the grit and the excitement of HYROX DC WKD, but… this one comes close!

Congratulations to the entire LAB DC family — whether this was your first race or 50th, there is always something special about doing it in the city you call home.

Last weekend was an incredible display of hard work, focus, but most importantly COMMUNITY! Lifting and Building — we showed up and showed out, now it’s onto the next.

Two years in the making. 🧡

I’ve wanted to cross a HYROX finish line for almost two years. Somewhere along the way, that goal got put on hold with an ACL injury, surgery, rehab, and some unexpected health challenges that made getting here feel a little less straightforward than I imagined.

There were a lot of moments when HYROX felt really far away. The last year tested me physically, but probably even more mentally. It taught me a lot about patience, trusting the process, and continuing to show up even when progress felt slower than I wanted.

Boston in October was always supposed to be my first HYROX, and I still plan on competing. DC kind of happened on a whim. I signed us up pretty spur of the moment and we decided to just go for it. After spending so much time waiting to get into this kind of training, it felt like a good reminder that sometimes you don’t have to wait until everything feels perfectly timed or until you feel completely ready…sometimes you just have to say yes and see what happens!

So standing on that start line (and especially crossing that finish line) meant so much more to me than just completing a race.

I’m incredibly grateful for everything my body has allowed me to get back to, and getting to do my first one alongside my favorite teammate made it even better. 🥹

Two years of waiting. Almost a year of rebuilding. And finally, HYROX finisher.

Allow me to introduce myself! I’m Alana ☺️. I got into fitness about 3 years ago, mostly through strength training, and it pretty quickly became a much bigger part of my life than I ever expected.

The more I trained, the more interested I became in understanding what I was doing and why. That curiosity kept growing over the years and eventually led me to getting my CPT this past June.

There have definitely been some bumps along the way too. Going through an ACL injury changed my training for a while and taught me a lot about patience, rebuilding, and most importantly, consistency over perfection.

Now I’m finally getting into some of the things I’ve wanted to try for a long time. HYROX has been on my radar for a couple of years, and lately I’ve been having a lot of fun getting outside of my usual strength training comfort zone and seeing what I can do.

I wanted a place to share more of that my training, what I’m learning, what I’m still figuring out, and all the trial and error along the way.

Excited to see where this goes and share the journey with you 🤍
