Back in July, has the pleasure of attending the premiere of a short film I directed. #throwbackthursday Years in the making now come to life. So proud of this team!

Conceived by @okzoee, FOUNDATIONS is a short film following three siblings navigating grief of their late father. Will they be able to reconcile in order to preserve the legacy he left behind? What happens when things that were buried come to surface?

Certain things can’t stay buried forever. A new foundation must be built. @foundationsthefilm

After years of pouring his pain into music, a Washington, DC artist sets out to create the most honest work of his life. Inspired by true events, The Test of Faith follows Devin as he navigates grief, heartbreak, financial uncertainty, and the weight of carrying one of Go-Go music’s most influential family legacies.

Haunted by the loss of his father and brother, Devin struggles to find his voice while honoring the generations that came before him—from his great-grandmother, Sis, to his father, whose impact on Go-Go continues to shape the culture. As memories of his past collide with the pressures of his present, he discovers that his greatest battle isn’t simply becoming a successful artist—it’s finding the courage to tell the truth about who he is.

Blending music, memory, and faith, The Test of Faith is an intimate portrait of legacy, purpose, and the sacrifices required to create something that outlives you.

SUPPORT THE FILM IN THE LINK IN BIO!

I’ve been carrying this story for a long time.

For years, I kept telling myself I’d make this film “one day.” When I had more money. More connections. More experience. The truth is, there was never going to be a perfect time.

The Test of Faith is the most personal thing I’ve ever made. It’s about losing my father and brother. It’s about growing up in a family whose life revolved around Go-Go music. It’s about chasing a dream that asks for everything from you before it gives anything back.

There are scenes in this film that came straight from my life. Some were hard to write. Some were even harder to relive.

Today, I’m asking for help bringing it to the screen.

I just launched the Kickstarter to raise $8,000 to make this film the way it deserves to be made. Whether you back the campaign, share it with someone, or simply watch the trailer, it all means more than you know.

Thank you for believing in me, in this story, and in what’s possible.

This is The Test of Faith.
