2021–2026, and Instagram wants me to pick only 20 pictures to say goodbye to this period.

When I moved here in 2021, I never expected that I would actually want to build a life here. But then things changed. Somewhere along the way, this place became home.

Now my heart hurts, and honestly, I don’t want to say goodbye.

The price I’m choosing to pay for a different future is huge, and for the past few weeks, I’ve asked myself every single day whether it’s worth it.

I experienced love here in so many different ways that I’m really scared I’ll never find anything like it again. Over the past few days, though, I’ve somehow come to a different conclusion.

Some people go through their whole lives without ever being lucky enough to experience real friendship or real love. I got to have both. So even if I never find anything like this again, I will always consider myself lucky to have experienced it for these years.

I once read that not everyone who wanders is lost. Now it feels like I’ve failed at this “project” by leaving the life I worked so hard to build. But deep down, I know I didn’t fail. I know how hard I worked for this life, how much I gave to it, and how much it gave me in return.

And I’m leaving without regrets.

I’m choosing to have the courage to leave when my heart tells me there might be something else waiting for me.

There is a Hungarian song that says:

“It’s hard to say goodbye to happiness, but now I’m moving on.”

“Nehéz a boldogságtól búcsút venni, most mégis indulok tovább.”

It’s DEMO day! Today we are removing kitchen cabinets in this 1953 Ranch house, and tomorrow drywall and parts of the flooring be taken out, so that we can replace plumbing and electrical and add central heat and air. After that the fun begins!
